i just give example on FNV reamke will get higher numbers than TOW 2 will ever, i didn’t suggest them to work on remake. i suggest them to work on Fallout IP. main or new vegas 2 or new spin off it’s up to them
Fallout New Vegas is getting remade by a bunch of fans in the fallout 4 engine.
I’d rather Obsidian make a sequel or a new west coast entry in the fallout universe.
I feel like this will never be finished (I don’t follow this closely though, just an impression) plus I play on console only so I think I couldn’t play it anyway.
Now, to be fair, Feargus was the director of the original Fallout. So technically he would be working on his own IP
And to split hairs further, all of the IP are Microsoft’s property now, not “someone else’s”.
With that said, I think they should work on whatever they want to work on. If that is more outer worlds, awesome. If it’s something new, sweet. If it’s Fallout, have at it. I’ll play any of it.
3 million for barely AAA Outer Worlds is not good???Jeez you people are a tough crowd.
Nier Automata hit like 4.5m the other day and thats a massive success and more popular than ToW.
TOW is definitely not AAA budget wise.
Cain and Boyarsky (who directed The Outer Worlds) also created Fallout.
Then 3 million is an absolute home run for the game and a massive success. Lets not spin this into it being bare minimum.
He has recently a good speech
I didn’t see a lot of people talk about it
depends on the budget of said AAA Games look at avengers even if they sold 3 mil then this is not enough to cover cost let alone profit.
Now for TOW they probably got good profit, the game is sold as AAA Game price tag with low budget
Dang, I didnt realize they were at obsidian too. MS has the entire legendary CRPG apparatus between them and InXile.
I did not say it was not good, it is. But in my opinion 3 million copies is not big enough for a company like Microsoft to have another publisher publish their own IP where it becomes a no brainer, especially when Microsoft will have to negotiate for a Game Pass release and potentially exclusivity. It starts to become more hassle than it is worth.
Sure it all comes with expectations. Im sure nobody could had predicted Avengers to flop so badly while ToW did incredible with 3 million.
Yeah, Im not sure I follow what some are peddling here. 3 Million is incredibly successful for almost any game, let alone a new IP.
Quit being so sensible, that isn’t allowed on gaming forums Xbox Game Pass is so filled with a cool variety of content every month as just shown in the second half of May additions, and we got some great previews of The Ascent today too. People just need to enjoy all of the awesome Xbox gaming content coming and quit being so worried about what “the other guy” in Sony is up to. I have a PS5 and have played Miles Morales and may get Ratchet and Clank close to launch, but I am getting far more gaming hours of fun on Xbox over this year no doubt with some awesome releases such as Flight Simulator, Halo Infinite, maybe Forza Horizon game and all of the other games coming from publishing partner deals and such too.
Yeah, MS now has so many RPG heavyweights in house. I know that they need to and will acquire more studios to build up GP, but for my gaming taste it’s all good already.
Also its been to my understanding since the start that All Private Division had was the publishing rights to the first game anyway.
Again today is just probably PR talk and we are drowning in a glass of water.
Also for comparisons. Nier Automata has lifetime sales of 5.5m 3 years after release. A sequel franchise with square enix backing, yoko taro and Sony exclusive for like a year. The Outer Worlds with nothing but Obsidian’s good name behind it did 3 million in 1 year pretty much.
No need for The Outer Worlds when Obsidian can now do Fallout
That quote from Take-Two reads like them trying to talk around losing the IP to investors after Microsoft bought the company that owned it. You rarely say “oh yeah, we probably won’t get a piece of this lucrative new IP’s sequel” to the shareholders and business term your way around it.
Thats exactly how I interpret it.
