Xbox Game Studios |OT3| Once more....with feeling (Part 1)

Many Artists help out within the studios if there is some need and a guy is free. This is pretty common.

You do realize that at the moment Sony is literally paying publishers to keep games off of xbox right? People talk about feelings this and feelings that, how about common sense. Disney could make a lot of money putting their content on HBO + and Netflix, but then what reason does anyone have to get into Disney + if they already have these services. I mean Sony could make a shit ton of money putting their first party exclusives on Xbox yet they don’t.

I very much doubt MS paid over seven billion dollars to keep the status quo going. Honestly think there is some emotion for Sony in many in the gaming media and community. Where they think they SHOULD have every game and other consoles not so much. MS is running a business and Sony or their fanbase are owed nothing. Just like we aren’t owed those games that Sony is paying publishers to keep off of xbox.

I could be wrong and MS may go the other way and choose to keep these games Multiplatform , i won’t be too fussed over it. I will however question if they are truly serious about the xbox ecosystem though.

Some people turned out to keep their mouth shut and hold important information to themselves :man_shrugging:

Teasing is always good because it does not take away. Imagine someone would post like one hour before an event “STARFIELD EXCLUSIVE” Journalists know they will loose trust from publishers and the one time buzz is not worth it. Unless you are Jason Schreier

So The Initiative director is leaving, I won’t read too much into it. These top talented people go back and forth to different studios for pay rises and other personal reasons all the time. XBox Game Studios future success if more dependent on having a good vision and roadmap than hinging everything on several top creative talents. I’m sure Sony feels the same way.

With all the rumblings about Bethesda and Starfield lately it’s easy to get excited too quickly, especially as a hardcore BGS fan, so I won’t. We’ll have to wait and see what the “event” exactly will be, but like others have said it probably will similar to the Obsidian video and inXile as well. I don’t think we’re going to see any games, maybe just maybe something brief from Starfield and then “more in the summer” or whatsoever.

But man, if they plan a full gameplay reveal/deep dive for Starfield for this year I sure do expect that their plan still is to launch it this year too. Bethesda has been doing it like that since Fallout 4 and it’s awesome. However, if the plan right now for example is March next year or so, I still would love that deep dive this year. Maybe during what used to be Gamescom perhaps?

He left a while ago and he was only the design director, not studio head, game director, or creative director.

The logo looks nice

Man, it’s like a dinner party on Australian Married at First Sight here recently.

Sorry @SuikerBrood

Deep dive always happen at E3 time

Most important of all. Day One on Xbox Game Pass. seriously, this is crazy.

Even better. That’s even sooner then. We could potentially have a really nice “E3” from Xbox to look forward to.

Ya man totally agree. If you want to build up your brand after it almost got destroyed by media, youtubers and competition and almost got out of business, why you should play nice. Even if they play nice people are going to anyways hate on the XBOX brand. Media and community loves status quo.

They forgave and gave a chance to Sony after that massive hack, but XBOX even after doing so much for the players and community gets shafted constantly. So saying others shouldn’t be able to enjoy games is straight up Bull Crap. As if MS doesn’t provide games to multiple platforms already except for Sony.

To be honest this Kumbaya attitude won’t do any favours to the Xbox Brand. Sony is being straight up being anti-consumer and nobody bats an eye so why should XBOX. They have already given so many options, so many ways to play games at a ridiculously cheap price.

I can understand them doing so when they reach a level where they are neck and neck with Sony and both are playing ball. This one sided LOVE AFFAIR wont pay dividend for the brand, it might make them more money but the brand value will diminish slowly.

Even though I am primarily a PC player I want XBOX to kick ass and be the household name that it was during the 360 days. Anyone saying it shouldn’t matter is either delusional or smoking some good shit.

That brings up an excellent point. There’s a decent chance we find out what is happening with Bethesda games from someone like Jason Schreier who puts out an article way before the event.

If you’re an Insomniac fan, it’s cool to be happy that they gained back a very talented person from the industry in Drew Murray. It’s fine to talk about the potential replacements at The Initiative or what it could mean for future Insomniac games (in a different thread). It’s none of anyone’s business why he switched jobs though and I’d ask for all those posts to be flagged.

Well said.

Very reasonable response, But the comment I replied to was about not enjoying games if they release on other system.

Your right in that Microsoft is a business and therefor might want something to have something to pull in users. In my other comment I touched on this subject and came with the argument that its not playstation users they want to “convert”, but rather mobile gamers who will subscribe to x-cloud over Luna or stadia.

If you have other concerns about the Bethesda Acquisition please take into the appropriate thread //

OK, but it’s not the first time a director leave a project that’s still successful.

In the end HI is still a project with a pretty much unmatched scope being AAA open world campaign, with sand box design, targeting 60fps and 120fps mp on console, with extensive multiplayer modes and community created features, on just a 6 year gap from their past release, delivering industry leading support for H5 and HI in the same time frame in a no crunch policy.

Like, this is so extraordinarily above most of the industry in terms of efficiency that I don’t know how can a narrative that things are going south on the studio have spread so badly. (And we saw the gameplay. Graphics could use a lot of work, but the game foundation seemed really solid)

Hopefully HI showcase soon will blow people away.

The only thing wrong with H:I was the graphics, and even that was debatable.
