We really should start referring to the two studios as different entities, like other studios with different studio locations such as Bethesda Maryland et all.
I just want the damn 60fps patch on it if they plan to do it so I can go and buy the season pass. They talked about series X|S enhancements but nothing since.
@Biggzy @pg2g are you guys saying that Playground are essentially building an entirely new 2nd studio? That the original FH team are there, seperate from the new hires, still working on that franchise & a completely new team is being built specifically for Fable?
If thatās the case, Fable must be a long way out. Longer than I had anticipated when they showed the reveal trailer last year. Thatās a bit of a bad news, honestly.
I guess then it would actually make sense that FH5 could be sooner than I had thought. If the original team are still there doing their thing unchanged.
Yeah. Thatās actually not what I thought they were doing & honestly, itās a bit of a downer. If true.
Playground has been building a new team for some years now which is why the Fable speculation has always been them. The people working on Forza arent the same working on Fable but there maybe overlap if needed I imagine.
Also I think FH5 wont be built on the new engine and its gonna be a beefed up version of the current one.
Same situation for me! I want a XSX-version and then Iāll pick up the season pass. The game was fun, albeit a bit barebones. A sequel would have to be much bigger to really do anything, otherwise itās better to do other things (New Vegas 2!).
Yeah I knew they had been on a hiring spree. I just thought that was to grow the studio & bring in some talent with more experience in the new 3rd person fantasy ARPG genre of Fable.
I never thought they were building a completely seperate new studio. I honestly donāt like that idea but if it is true, then hopefully they prove me wrong.
I think we are going to see more studios do dual teams this gen in light of all the acquisitions that are happening. Just look at Santa Monica on the other side doing that or insomniac.
Yeah man. Tango will likely get a second team, maybe even third.
@Steve Yes lol, that is exactly what I am saying because it is what is happening and why they are hiring so many people. They moved over a lot of the senior people over to the Fable team and building it out from there.
Forza Horizon is one of Xboxās most successful series - I would even go as far and say it is the biggest racing franchise atm. It would not be very prudent for Microsoft to alternate development between Fable and Forza. Once Playground is fully staffed it will be the biggest studio behind 343i and more than capable of handling both titles at the same time.
they are like 3 minutes walk away from each other and are both overseen by the same studio head, they are two completely seperate teams, but to call them two seperate studios is a bit too far imo
Hey if thatās what Playground are doing then fair enough.
I donāt like the sound of it. Making these AAA titles is hugely complicated & requires an absolute ton of work. Having 2 teams making 2 of the things just seems like a massive, massive undertaking. Like you canāt even describe how much work that would be. I canāt think of another example where that kind of thing has been done. Even the mighty Rockstar, with all their money & talent, alternate releases of their big hitters. Hell, they dropped everything else & put every one of their teams from around the world on Red Dead 2 together.
Iām just not confident that having 2 teams on 2 different games will work. But as I said, hopefully they prove me wrong. What do I know about this anyway.
I mean, they have been doing that for a long time now, ever since their acquisition.
before that even, they started building the second team at the end of 2017
Has a sequel been confirmed? Also has it been confirmed that it would be multi platform.
I liked the game and it seamed to be pretty successful but enough to warrant a multi platform sequel?
I would much rather that along side avowed that they made either a fallout new Vegas remake or sequel or a new KOTOR.
Thatās true.
Insomniac is releasing Miles Morales and Ratchet in like a 6 month time frame.
Many studios have multiple teams.
Forza Horizon Next/Forza Motorsport never was a planned launch title.
The focus was completely on Halo Infinite. And even that not being there at launch didnāt hurt the launch anywhere as close as people thought it would.
The bigger picture proves that the launch titles were actually ⦠Pretty irrelevant. With Game Pass, a regular flow of games is much more important than a nice flash in the pan. Next-gen consoles are sold out and will be for months to come, and once the availability of Xbox Series X|S will go up, Halo Infinite etc. will hit the market, which conversely will likely lead to consoles selling out in Fall/Holiday 2021 ⦠again.
I think the hardcore gamer has to accept that itās not just about new game releases anymore. People like to play the games they already love, and seeing all the free next-gen updates on Xbox Series X|S and the most played games charts, people love to receive new and exciting content to existing games. And these are reason enough to get a next-gen console on its own already.
Hasnāt insomniac done it. They put out miles morales last year and ratchet and clank this year. Seams like 2 teams to me. Obsidian and ninja theory also do this. Both of them have like 3 teams.
Anyway playground has been working on fable since early 2018 I believe so the game while not likely to be out till 2022 or early 2023 probably has a substantial amount of work done.
Playground not the first nor the last team to do this too.
