Xbox Game Studios |OT12| The One with Starfield and Activision Blizzard King

I look forward to it. 5 was obviously them dipping their toes in the water, so I’d like to see them go all out with the open areas in 6.

Let’s face it, if they went back to just linear levels, it’d be criticised for being the same old Gears.

Assuming it’s true, they either need to make it open in a way that’s completely different to Gears 5 and/or change the movement up

Gears is movement is far too heavy/slow/deliberate to suit massive open sections imo, unless they plan on making it much quicker and adding things like grapple hook traversal I just don’t see it working well

As for the world itself, Gears 5’s openness just felt pointless, you had these big open sections that provided nothing that led to the small save/ambush fight sections that the series was actually known for

This is definitely the opposite direction of where I think they should go but if this is the plan, hopefully they can pull it of much better than 5

Linear like Hivebusters or open areas like Gears 5, im just hoping that The Coalition moves on from the current story lines and characters after Gears 6. I would prefer a new story line with the Hivebusters characters that becomes a trilogy but more linear and set piece focused similar to the original trilogy.

We’ll see how Gears 6 goes though. I’m not expecting it to release until Fall 2025. I would be shocked if it’s Fall 2024.

It will be really hard to do I think. If they can pull it off though… an open world Gears will be awesome.

I think as long as it’s set in a city instead of traveling around, will allow for more action.

Chances are it’ll have more than one setting. And I think they’re fine to be more open world so long as they create it mindfully that people will still expect cover based options. I don’t see this being an issue at all and it should open up how you play the game in new ways so I’ll be happy if this is correct.

Xbox is so far ahead on GaaS compared to PS it’s not even funny lol.

But… Fairgame$ guys! :joy:

But Hivebusters showed that this IS where Gears excels, so it may be same old Gears, it’s a formula that wins.

Not gonna lie, not happy with this rumor. Some games just are not meant for big open areas, let alone open world’ish. Had really preferred the rumor had said doubling down on what was done in Hivebusters.

But we’ll see.

I doubt Gears 6 is ONLY open world. I assume it will be like 5 but with more engagement in the larger sections, where 5 felt kind of barren. Then you will get into the focused sections where the real action happens, and where the exceptionally crafted experiences like Huve Busters campaign.

Matter of fact, I wouldn’t be surprised if it was like Halo Infinite in structure.

Best to let Coalition themselves show what they are working on. Wasn’t there a rumour also saying Gears 6 is a big departure from previous ones ? We will see when they are ready, but I would trust them.

I am impartial on this rumor, I think the game could do well in a more open environment but they’d definitely need to evolve the gameplay some. I don’t see how the traditional cover to cover kind of stuff would work in a more open environment.

I think it’d be pretty cool in a more urban environment like the city areas of Fallout 4.

I got 2000 hours in Gear 5. It’ll be fine.

The CMA basically doomed Cloud Gaming so it makes sense why Xbox would invest less into it

I think MS are kneecapping cloud gaming tbh, these queues are fairly recent and I don’t see a big reason why there would be a sudden influx.

These queues starting happening more frequently when they started to invest more into the AI division. Maybe there’s some correlation there.
