Xbox Game Studios |OT12| The One with Starfield and Activision Blizzard King

So much better now, I remember at launch I played it co-op with a friend and we both couldn’t stop laughing at how bad we thought it was, I’m looking forward to jumping in again eventually.

Very impressed with this, can’t wait to see what Playground also achieves on this engine.

Personally, my issues with Redfall weren’t necessarily performance related.

Did things change with AI, missions, and exploration in a meaningful way?

Not really, I’m in the same boat as you, my main issues are things that are pretty much fundamental flaws

The exploration, world, story etc just ain’t it for me especially when you compare it to something like Prey which was top tier for all those things

To me the update will help people that just want to go in and shoot some vampires with friends as the actual combat feels night and day from before but for ones like us, it’s not going to change minds

That’s what I was trying to see, apparently it has better enemy population but that could just exacerbate the issue if the underlying issues aren’t fixed.

DF have some stuff to say about Forza Motorsport at 12:04

We’ve had games in the where at E3 it looked good, but downgraded on final release. But we’ve also had games that looked great at E3 and even better on final release. One would hope FM was the latter.

ABK made a tweet about Game Pass future. That means they will become part of the family very, very, very soon. Everybody, get your welcome party ready.

Yeah, but it sounds like we shouldn’t expect Diablo 4 and MW3 this year anymore. MW3 I get, but Diablo 4…not as much.

Perhaps they want to drop older Diablo first.

It’s a pet peeve of mine how this accepted assertion within the industry, even they have fallen for it a bit here, that games just look better come release. This is a vast misunderstanding and the opposite can happen as developers optimise games, as this can just mean turning down settings to hit stable frame rates.

It just seems to me that Turn 10 were too ambitious with ray tracing and had to tune it down. I always say this but when Turn 10 say a game is 60, it is 60 and the game doesn’t buckle no matter what you throw at it. This obviously requires a lot of headroom.

Long story short, whenever you see a game almost a year out, accept things may change. That is game development and a price you pay for seeing a game early.

Where they have a point is that the ray tracing could be dialed up for PC.

60fps and raytracing and people still whine, DF is a joke.

Yeah it should. First party is first party is Game Pass.

The best part about this will be the welcome video.

The best part will be the mountains of salt. Knowing just how much this “defeat” hurts some people on a fundamental level is priceless.

Xbox: shows PC version of Redfall in pre-release footage

People: “No you can’t do that you have to show the Console footage!” (even though Xbox is a publisher that releases on both PC and Console)

Phil: “Okay I’ll only show the Xbox version”

John: “They should just show the PC version of the game in pre-release footage”

lmao

Clearly they’ll have to have a plan in place for this moving forward because its getting a bit silly. I think they should just have most footage be of the Xbox (console) version and then have a “PC Features Showcase” closer to release like some publishers are doing where they show off the PC version with all the bells and whistles turned on.

Also, while I feel like the quality of Xbox’s PC versions has been “okay” I really shouldn’t be feeling like this to be honest. This is Xbox we’re talking about, the division of Microsoft… that makes Windows. The PC ports coming from Xbox’s first party should be Cyberpunk 2077 2.0 level quality. They should be pushing the frontier of PC gaming features. They need to up their game here, which I know is tough because of their PC day-and-date strategy (which I appreciate and invest in), meaning that each studio with in XGS/Zenimax/Activision/Blizzard needs to have a PC team as opposed to Sony’s strategy where they just have one studio focusing on their PC ports after a delay (which also means I don’t spend nearly as much on Sony games as I do on Xbox games, so there is a tradeoff).

What I think Xbox should do is form a team like their current Advanced Technologies Group that helps their studios get the most out of Xbox but this one would be focused only on their PC ports. That way they can have specialists in addition to the teams at their studios that can really help push their PC releases to a higher quality level.

I can understand why this game isn’t pushing Cyberpunk 2.0 levels of quality, it’s a brand new game with brand new features that Turn10 hasn’t used before. Made in an engine that was updated to use said features and will continue to improve.

As for Cyberpunk, please stop forgetting that it took years for that game to even get a good implementation on Console and PC, it launched in pretty bad state. Forza Motorsports launched in a better state and if the work that has been done on Forza Horizon 5 is any indication, we should see it improve as the game goes along.

So I just loaded up Forza Motorsport and holy heck those visuals! It looks nothing like all these Forza - GT comparisons I have been seeing online!

All the comparisons show Forza with matte materials and all washed out, even the revised IGN video with new ‘corrected’ footage. It’s nothing like that the lightning and reflections are amazing and it’s all so vibrant!

it’s glorious!! :hushed::hushed:

The hard on people have for 2077 is getting obnoxious, you think the game is great? cool, I have no doubt it is but stop pretending it hasn’t had 3 extra years to do what it’s doing

If you can give CDPR 3 years to fix their shit, you can do the same for other major titles like Forza or Starfield, games that launched magnitudes better than the game people keep praising ever did

Imo, Cyberpunk is a good game. This is coming from someone that played the game on Xbox One, were I ran into glitches where my weapons were disappearing from my inventory and stopped until I could test with the next update.

But there’s this weird feeling like if Cyberpunk is suddenly a different game than it was when it first came out, when in reality it just had time to improve its presentation and fix issues that had been plaguing it for a while. The new DLC doesn’t change that, it improves on what they did before but that’s something a lot of DLC for games tend to do.

Cyberpunk 2077 was an excellent game three years ago if you played on PC, PS5 or Series X/S. If you were playing on a PS4 or Xbox One, yeah, not so much. My friend completed the game back when it launched on PS5 and the only issues he had was crashes here and there and the police system was non-existent. He rated it a 9.5/10 and reason why is because the game design, visuals, audio, story, characters, quests, gameplay and combat were all excellent. Technical issues or not, the foundation was and still is excellent which means that you still get an excellent game.

ABK saying that their games will be added to Game Pass next year is hilarious to me because once Microsoft owns them, I expect games to start getting added in November. I don’t think every game will be added at once though. Instead, I see them spreading out the games which is the smarter decision. No reason to add 10 COD games when you can add a few of them every month. Diablo IV wise, im expecting Diablo 2 and Diablo 3 to be added first in different months and then Diablo IV by Spring 2024.
