I don’t like voice of the person reading, it’s putting me off the whole thing.
Surprised to see no one has mentioned this here yet? Unless I missed a thread for it:
If it’s real and on UE5 it makes me think that this is bigger than a simple remaster but it hasn’t been officially announced yet and it’s being rumored to release next month so it’s probably just a graphical upgrade on UE5, we’ll see, a real remake of a game like Oblivion can do some huge numbers.
It’s been mentioned, but it’s been a while since it’s been talked about even in the podcast(although the last mention could have been in headlines). I think last thing I remember being mentioned is that the people doing the remastered where changing how some of the gameplay works and that they were building everything on top of Oblivion itself with UE5.
As for release next month, unless Xbox is planning another shadow drop, I don’t see them releasing it without some sort of advert attached to it.
Excited to see how it looks and plays on UE5, Oblivion was one of those games I was never able to get into due to how outdated it felt to me after playing Skyrim so much, but loved the setting the world, I can already see myself playing this for months lol, hope it gets some good graphical and gameplay upgrades.
I’m more likely to skip it, as I just wasn’t interested enough in the original to play for more than a couple of hours. I don’t know what it was about it, but I didn’t have that issue with Morrowind which I did two full playthroughs of the main quest line and the guild questlines.
Which I’m glad, because it really highlighted some of the stuff people threw at Skyrim as bullshit.
The first time you entered an Oblivion gate was maybe the most stressful, intense RPG I’ve yet to have had to this date. No saving until you get out! I was in that thing like 90 minutes sneaking around thinking “if I have to re-do this thing I just can’t do it!” Killing whatever big bad was in that thing was a real high. At the end of the game you’d hop in just for the lols but when you were little and a gear scrub it was super intense.
Bethesda was really good at that feeling. “People” love to bag on Bethesda for outdated this or that but I’ve yet to play any rpg that had the sense of exploration TES had. Random sprawling underground dungeons that were easy to get into to but super hard to get out of was their specialty - not to mention the real reams of lore they created.
I played Oblivion and Shivering Isles to death though. I’m happy if people experience it for the first time but I did my time and then some.

I don’t think this is where they will announce the rumored remake/remaster, but maybe around this month. Time will tell.
Avowed is just a first class amazing game all around,
Couldn’t agree more. 30 hours in and just made it to the Emerald Stair; so much to explore and experience (I actually feel the same about this game as Starfield, some of the most well-designed worlds/levels and arguably one of each team’s best).
The way the map is set up, it looks like there’s room for at least 4 zones worth of content. So a roadmap makes me think dlc zones.
I must admit I did think that, there’s a huge gap in the middle of the map.
I’m looking forward to revisiting the game once they do.
