Kind of sounds like content creators, who try to make a living from clips of owning other gamers, have been the ones complaining? They resort to creating smurf accounts anyways. Some may say they like very social relaxed games, but they always want to be on the winning side and never on the side that’s embarrassed.
I think that’s part of it, but content creators doing it also make it seem like it’s the norm. So, other people jump on the the chance to do it as well(probably even they’re followers), which creates the this game is too sweaty narrative. Which lead more casual players to think it’s not a game they want to try out at least.
Disagree. They 100% made alterations to the SBMM over the years. It’s pretty noticeable.
I don’t think it is, maybe because I didn’t play MP until Xbox One and even then I stuck to pretty much Halo 5(and this game was considered very sweaty, I didn’t feel it was).
But even in Infinite since launch I didn’t feel that the match making is so bad that I’m not having fun(that’s mostly my bad connection).
Everything just feels fair most of time, the time they don’t the team I’m up against is supposivily on the same rank as I’m in(maybe one lower or higher). But they completely shit on us, making me think they’re smurfs.
Edit: Actually in Halo 5, there was a couple of matches I remember being really bad one that was because the team I was on was playing against Proximity and some others. The rest was just Warzone, where there didn’t seem to be any match base match making.
Don’t get me wrong, I don’t think it’s necessarily a bad thing. It helps casual gamers continue to play longer when they aren’t getting stomped but as someone whos played COD/Halo since H3 and MW2, I can definitely notice a shift in how SBMM works. Noticed it around the late 2010’s.
I’m not that old too so it’s not that, (just entering my mid 20’s lol). I don’t think it’s as drastic as streamers make it out to be but I notice it. It’s all speculation though I guess.
Alterations yes, but always active. It makes sense they’d have to adjust things, it’s impossible to imagine nothing changing over the past decade and a half.
Yep, no disagreements here
It has but it’s got way way worse over the years, the problem is now every single game is a sweatfest
There’s nothing wrong with some games making you feel like a god and others the opposite, which is how it used to be
My adventure in Morrowind continues, I have been power leveling alchemy to sell potions and make enough money to get training in other skills. Currently leveling/training heavy armor at Vivec, I plan to stop at 70 before starting up blunt weapon training up to 68. Which is the highest level the master heavy armor trainer can get me(likely will need to power level alchemy a bit for the money I will need for it).
Reference to what kicked off the latest SBMM discussion, the Activision PDF @ https://www.activision.com/cdn/research/CallofDuty_Matchmaking_Series_2.pdf
I saw it linked from these tweets:
Activision Blizzard released a 25 white page document that includes an amazing A/B test where they secretly progressively turned off SBMM and monitored retention and turns out everyone hated it, with more quitting, less playing, & more negative blowouts.
I live for this stuff. It’s wild how easily human brains are fooled, and how quickly we establish a community “truth” that when researched seriously turns out to be absolutely the opposite, even from the people spreading that truth.
Well that’s pretty interesting, I guess it’s never going away.
amazing
Being an Imperial with the lady for birth sign in Morrowind really cuts through a lot if the bribing and persuasion we need to do. So many characters start out with a disposition of 60 and up, as we keep leveling and putting points into personality.
We tend to meet the requirements needed to convince people to give something up or join a certain cause without needing to bribe or flatter them. Throw in doing quest for guilds and how much your rank and disposition raises and pretty much everyone loves yous a little.

Nice for those of us with the option of playing on PC. Game is looking good.
Nice!, seems like this could be the most polished MS game since FH5 , these few months delay could help it, if that’s the case, smart move.
The RT looks worse too me because I generally darken my game to something closer to the no RT lol!
