No…you wouldn’t. lol
Forspoken is a better JRPG than FF16.
I’ll give you that but it’s nowhere near FF XVI in regards to which is the better game. Besides, FF XVI has no RPG elements so it’s not like it would take a lot to surpass it. lol
I heard it has MMO-like sidequests?
If we’re talking about AA or AAA titles it is definitely unrealistic and in some respects it’s just going to drive up costs and result in games cannibalizing each other for attention. So it’s maybe not the best plan anyways.
If smaller titles are accepted by gamers/subscribers then maybe 4 is possible. Pentiment being a good example of a smaller budget title that can fill in a slow quarter.
Such titles needn’t be first party. A partnership for an indie 3rd party title with timed exclusivity works. Vampire Survivor, As Dusk Falls, and The Artful Escape come to mind.
But it does sound, in context, that Xbox wants AA to AAA sized titles for this. It doesn’t sound like smaller titles push the needle in terms of attention.
Eh. It take the bad RPG over the pseudo dark Game of Thrones wannabe. Or i could just finish one of those better JRPGs in my backlog like Star Ocean 4, Enchanted Arms or Lightning Returns
Maybe you can’t force a game release within a specific quarter, but you absolutely can target a year. They need to have at least 8 (imo) 1st party releaseas every year to keep subscription momentum, 3rd party deals are not always instant wins like Palworld (nor exclusives, which are the best way to push your ecosystem, if the games are available elsewhere, people don’t care enough).
The people focusing on timing of the releases are chasing a meaningless guideline/goal IMO. The real benefit of having properly spaced releases throughout the year is having consistent Day 1 content for Game Pass and as long as they can do that through other means they are good.
Perhaps. I have no idea what that even means especially since I never played FF XIV. I will say the side quests are basic and mostly fetch quests which is in every open world game in general.
I played Forspoken and it’s bland, boring, empty with some of the worse cringy writing and dialogue I have ever heard. Combat is literally the only good aspect of the game in my opinion. Also, what the hell is up with the shitty UI being like diagonal or whatever it’s called.
Going back to older far better JRPG’s is definitely the better idea.
FF16 isn’t a great RPG but it’s a very good action game. It’ll make a great addition to the Xbox’s library if it comes.
“Hello brave champion, I need you to collect 12 wolf pelts for me”
Me: Easy money!
Fetch quests then. Yeah, that’s most of the side quests in FF XVI. But in fairness, that’s in every open world game.
Pretty much. As long as they’re optional they don’t bother me. When they’re part of the main quest I let out an immediate groan and start having flashbacks to the dozens of MMO’s I’ve played throughout the years.
They’re definitely part of every game, open world or not, that has a quest to complete.
Yeah, I agree. Games do put them in the main quest line but it’s usually part of a bigger overarching story.
Yep. That’s why im happy a game like Hellblade 2 is a 10 hour or so game with no padding or filler.
I’ve struggled to get into it, I need to give it more time. Whatever anyone wants to say about 16 though I think it can only be a good thing for Xbox/SE’s relationship moving forward that they are releasing their most recent flagship title on the platform.
FF16 doesnt really interest me, but Xbox enhancing their relationship with SE does and getting more Final Fantasy games on the console is never bad.
Now can they get FF1-6???
Back to topic, everyone.
