How would the Gears of War collection work, OG trilogy or OG trilogy + judgement?. Other than the obvious graphical enhancements, I would hope it has a shared multiplayer and horde mode spanning across the games. It should be seamless online and cross play/progression with XS and PC.
Honestly, I think Shattered Space gets pushed into 2025. I can see 2024 being smaller updates, quality of life additions and the Creation Club. Plus, if Avowed is September, I wouldn’t release Shattered Space in the same month.
I’m going with June. Mainly because I don’t think that it’s the first release from Microsoft and second, they could have a launch trailer at the Showcase on Sunday June 9th (my prediction and speculation) and be like, it’s 5 days away, out Friday June 14th.
I agree with Evil. It will get announced when Gears of War 6 gets announced. Maybe even available that day, meaning the Gears Collection.
If I remember correctly when they first showed gears 4 they showed the gears 1 remake
Do you guys think we’ll get a Gears Tactics 2 this gen? With game pass growing the most on PC, it seems like MS would want a sequel to this PC centric game.
It’s the only game that’s had play tests and might have been playable at Gamescom.
Same with Halo 5 and MCC, and Halo 4 and Halo CE Anniversary. It’s the proven strategy.
I agree about seamless online. Gears MP isn’t as different between releases as Halo is, so they could have one MP suite that just has every map from every game.
I don’t like Judgement so I don’t really care if it’s included or not, but I suppose for the sake of completion they might as well. This can still call it the Marcus Fenyx Collection or whatever as MCC includes ODST and Reach now.
In an ideal world, all three/four games get the Gears Ultimate Edition visual treatment but even better using UE5, but I don’t know if that’s too much to expect. Maybe they only update 2’s visuals and just uprez 3 and Judge.
All this talk about a Gears of War collection (which I think we can all agree should be called “Gears of Wars” ) gets me hoping that it’s all redone in Unreal Engine 5. The exact same gameplay, voice acting, and level layouts with new character and level visuals, along with new animations.
Because otherwise a collection seems rather pointless to me when all the games are still available on the store.
I’m thinking it makes sense to do this to learn the ropes of UE5 and then take all the learnings to make Gears 6.
Forgot about this. Jez played it at Gamescom and loved it.
If the collection is real, I very much doubt its The Coalition that are doing it, maybe some help and input but certainly not the main dev
Could it be the People Can Fly MS rumoured game? They’ve worked with them and the UE before.
Shouldn’t be, that contract was signed recently
My predictions for the next d_d:
- Towerborne: releases March with a open beta/demo shadowdrop.
- Avowed: More in depth information but still only “2024” as release date, people will speculate that it’s not coming this year anymore
- Hellblade 2: releases in October but everything shown here will disappoint a lot of people that wants it to be different from the same game
- Double Fine’s next game: Just a quick gameplay trailer with some talk about it with only a 2024 release date.
- MSFT 2024: More in depth info about it, releases in August.
The only game that I’m really looking forward to is Avowed, since the gameplay trailer showed some cool stuff but we still lack a lot of information about its RPG systems.
Contract was signed in 2022.
If avowed doesnt show up or does with no release fdate I can see the headlines now on the articles “avowed development in reouble as no release date is shown” or Xbox has possiible lackluster year ahead with no heavy hitters" totally ignoring hellblade or the fact sony has none. so dumb
Last DD, four of the five games launched in the first half of the year but you’ve got only one of the five games launching in the first half. I really think the majority will be first half again (at least three, if not four).
Why would they date Hellblade for October at the DD and not just wait for the showcase? If Hellblade gets dated at the DD, the date will be before the showcase, just like Redfall and Minecraft last year.
Gears 1 has already been remade and made on PC so I don’t know why they’d touch it again in any significant way.
Gears 2 is the one really in need of remake/master, but 3 will probably be remade as well, both are not on PC so it’s gonna be important for that.
I think they’ll make a unified MP client with all the maps of the series, like MCC.
Given the recent tweet, i got to say that Double Fine is more than likely going to show one or two games this year, at least show something on Developer Direct. Why one may ask? Well look at this tweet and tell me there’s something else in the works.

I that’s the case, what are some of the games that we know they are making outside Klin? Since i feel like that is either shadow dropped or announced at Developer Direct since we say it be trademark last year.
Kiln is the only one we “know” about (all we know is the trademark, which is good evidence but not completely conclusive).
Lee Petty and his team (RAD, Headlander) were making another game but they got drafted in to help with Psychonauts 2 at the end. Supposedly their game was going very well so I assume they went back to work on it after Psychonauts 2 shipped. We have no idea what it is though.
Maybe we finally get Headlander as a game finally, heard that the team was really into it when it was shown on amnesia fortnight.
Otherwise if its not i do wonder what it could be, it could be related to one or other pitches made in previous fortnight events.
