After seeing that Wolverine leak, saying that it’s a 2025 release, 2025 might be another great year for gaming, especially if GTA 6 is 2025.
It also might be Xbox most loaded year ever when they have games potentially releasing that year like:
Almost definite:
Fable
South of Midnight
Clockwork Revolution
Indiana Jones
Oblivion Remaster( might also be 2024, but a full on remake could delay it 2025)
Probable:
Perfect Dark( can also be 2026)
Everwild( same as above)
Contraband( could be 2024)
Odyssey( could be 2024 or later)
Id game( quake or doom, could also be 2026)
Forza Horizon 6( depends if they pulled people to work on fable).
Double Fine games( depends on the scope)
ZOS game( could also be 2026 or later)
Unknowns/or potentially released 2026 or later
Project Suerte( if it’s still under global publishing)
Fallout 3 Remaster( probably 2026)
Outer Worlds 2 ( probably 2026)
Infinity Ward RPG( could just be a new COD mode)
Rumoured Spyro game by Toys for Bob
Almost definite 2026 or later:
Elder Scrolls 6
next Arkane Lyon game( could be Dishonored 3)
next Tango Game
Gears 6
Some XGP games we never heard of
Project Maverick by PCF
Next Halo campaign
unannounced Blizzard or even Activision games
Arkane Austin redemption arc lol
Not to mention the yearly COD games starting with
Treyarch Gulf War Blacks Ops game next year. Plus other GAAS expansions for Overwatch, WOW, Diablo etc.
It’s crazy how Microsoft has chained together my 4 GOTYs from previous years (the 2019 GOTY was Outer Wilds for me) This is why I don’t care about these ceremonies
DOOM Eternal is the greatest FPS of all time for me.
I loved It Takes Two but Psychonauts 2 had a much greater impact on me in the originality of its levels, its universe, its writing but It Takes Two was a good couch coop experience probably more focused on the general public.
Pentiment is a reinvention of Point’n Click. I had never played a game like that before. This game marked me for life and it already inspires other projects. I think it’s the mark of great games.
Hi-Fi Rush is my GOTY this year I could give it to Diablo IV, Baldur’s Gate 3, Starfiel…but I found Hi-Fi Rush more innovative, more artistic and for me it is a revolution in gaming. Rhythm the fact that all these details which move in the environment, the HUD which sets the tempo, I loved the cutscenes (usually I don’t really like that in games) but everything was so well animated and put on stage, the choice of music is Incredible, the Gameplay is excellent, it’s the game I enjoyed the most with the controller in hand this year.
I hope Microsoft can continue to have at least one game of this quality per year, that would be great.
I believe very strongly that nothing currently announced is later than 2026 (except for TES VI obviously). Honestly, I think most of them are no later than 2025 but there will be a few stragglers into 2026.
Obviously I know that Gears 6 and id’s game aren’t announced, but I still think they are the most imminent of the unannounced games (outside of smaller projects or remasters that could land essentially whenever), so 2025 or 2026 is reasonable to expect.
They should announce Gears 6 at a showcase and release it that fall. No need to do a long marketing campaign for such a well-established franchise.
I have to admit, the schadenfreude of Xbox taking over the project would be the icing on the cake (there are literally at least three studios that could pull that off with ease at Xbox’s fingertips).
Nah, some folks are like “why are they hiding the sales numbers”, “ It will be second to Hogwarts Legacy in NPD, therefore COD is doomed”, and the obvious fanboy hopium of “ COD has been bad the last few years and it’s dying, Xdefiant will take over” lol.
Exactly. Xbox has the studios to work on a KOTOR reboot it’s just a matter of which studio would work on it. I would be interested in seeing Blizzard and Obsidian team up on KOTOR.
