Microsoft Flight Simulator (2020) already had over two petabytes of data on the cloud. That was the whole world data. We kept adding to that, but we still had planes, airports, meshes, points of interests like castles, and textures that were all installed. That’s the part that kept growing with the marketplace content, which had grown to 2 TB. Now we integrated everything into the cloud, and it is all streamed and kept into a rolling cache on the hardware. You don’t have to install any new World Updates; they’re just streamed seamlessly.”

This is great to read!

Yeah. One of the reasons I didn’t stick with Flight Simulator was the massive install size. It didn’t grab me enough to justify taking up that much space. But now I’ll probably give it another go.

I still play this game nearly daily after a year and it is amazing, Sucks another great Xbox game got a bad narrative at launch and is brushed aside by the mainstream. It was also really good at the start regardless of the reviews.

This is another example of why Disc based games and complaining about games being always online is moot nowadays.

Game size and structure has far out paced physical discs and even local SSD drives on consoles nowadays.

Yeah, if I never purchased an expansion card earlier this year, it would have remained uninstalled for me too. Great game to chill and listen to music to, but as you say, not at the cost of taking up that much space.

True, it’s something I’ve not complained about personally as I’m constantly online, despite not being much of an online MP player.

Still, devs/publishers to start implementing contingency plans during development in case servers do eventually go offline, as that’s where I see a lot of complaints still.

Still the best racing sim this gen, no questions in my book. Ever since 5, I’ve hated GT’s completely unrealistic handling model (I used to race my buddy’s Z24 on the tracks around Kansas City in the early 00s).

not only is the install size significantly smaller (FS 2020 is over 200 GB big on my ssd) but it also means less slow downloads of world updates inside the sim which was highly annoying.

Everything they’ve talked about sounds like a big improvement to the UX, which should see it get even more praise than the current game.

I guess this would go here. Not surprising to me at all though.

So a touch under 200 Mil a year. This is what you have to keep in mind when people are shocked by concord having a budget of 200 Mil plus. A hit goes a looooong way.

ESO has earned concords budget every year for a decade. That’s why PS has gone so hard for GAAS titles
