Xbox Game Studios |OT11| The One with Starfield and Activision Blizzard King

Let Indiana Jones for the love of God & all things good be third person.

I legitimately will be disappointed if the reveal shows first person whip gameplay. It’s a cinematic franchise which deserves a fully modelled, fully animated Indiana Jones.

And we need a proper third person action/adventure franchise this decade, i.e. since Uncharted & Tomb Raider are currently no shows.

If Arkane is working on a third person adventure game, I can see this to be the case as well. No studio is locked for one genre.

Concerns comes first? Atleast be excited first and wait for the reveal.

You may concern all you want after the show.

What a insane surprise.

I mean Toddster last year said they would start talking about the game this year, I was fully expecting just gameplay details in text form, not necessarily even footage. But as soon as the new year starts and they show gameplay? Holy fucking shit!

I didn’t realize having a preference was ‘concern’.

I think some people might be a little bit too invested emotionally right now. Understandable I guess considering some of the debates going on but nevertheless I reiterate the point, i.e. Indiana Jones should be third person.

I also happen to think Avatar Frontiers of Pandora should have been third person as well, i.e. despite playing as a Na’vi, it feels like playing any first person Ubisoft game as a human with blue hands.

Indiana Jones needs to be fully fleshed out third person character we control.

Who was it again last year that said it would be a mixture of both camera perspectives? I thought it was a good source, not sure. Ideally it’s fully third person like Emperor’s Tomb and with optional first person for combat. But it’s MG, I expect a big first person focus. Would be genuinely shocked if it isn’t. And I think if anyone can make it work, they can.

It hasn’t even been that long in development, has it? I think if they were to go full third person it would take significantly longer.

I reckon it will be a mix of both, I believe that’s how Riddick was back in the day? Which I believe these devs made back then too

But Arkane is doing a third person game after only making FP so MG could do it too

Personally I’m not too bothered by either

Wolfenstein was a great game (especially The New Order). But its first person gameplay isn’t something I’d associate with Indiana Jones, hence why I (& I’ve read many others with the same opinion) hope it’s more like those PS2 era games.

There’s a lot of first person titles out there, i.e. Indiana Jones needs to stand out & be clearly Indiana Jones as soon as people see the clips.

Of course I’ll play it (as it’ll be on Gamepass anyway) but there’s an opening right now in the market for a third person adventure genre which Indiana Jones could fill.

Towerborne mysteriously absent despite probably releasing before all these games… Surprise open beta announcement maybe??

I agree with you, completely, but I’m just preparing myself. Have come to simply accept that it could very well be a big first person focus. Whatever the case is, it’s awesome news. What a surprise. Almost wish they had not put it on the picture and shock us all during the stream.

I hope Hellblade is for the first half of the year.

Seems like she was with Bungie during the Halo era, so she has a bit of history with Xbox.

The new Indiana Jones by ZeniMax Media will be released in 2024, sources close to the game tell Insider Gaming.

We now have multiple sources saying it, just like that another surprise.

1st Person platforming can be incredibly intuitive and engaging nowadays (see Mirror’s Edge, Dead Island and Pearl Abyss). I’m interested in seeing what it looks like.

She came in from AMD at the end of the Bungie era of Halo for ODST and Reach. She was more influential for Destiny i think.

Either way, great get for Activision.

Bethesda does Nintendo method at times and by that I mean present the game and release on the same year. It’s why I was arguing back then about Starfield releasing on 2022, only for them to delay it. Nintendo didn’t patent that style, anyone can do it. Playground wanted to do that, but Fable hype is too strong, so there you go.

Personally feel this format is to highlight games that are releasing that year, hence why it is in January it seems.

What a damn strong and promising year it is then!

I’m curious too in what way the DD format has changed. Not that it really needed it, but who knows what they have done.

I mean, Phil did say that there were games still unnanounced for 2024, but I have to admit I’m pleasantly surprised it seems to be Indiana Jones.
