Xbox Game Studios |OT10| Here are the games

After Hi-Fi Rush, I am perfectly fine with that.

Well they’re clearly fans of JRPGs there because Hi Fi Rush had a quite in your face Xenogears reference (And what a JRPG to be a fan of as it’s a top 10 game of all time for me)

Is Tango gonna just pick the the slack in every “Japanese focused” genre Xbox is lacking in (Stylish Action game/DMC like, JRPG, Visual Novel although the Ghostwire VN isn’t coming to Xbox and is only like 30 mins long) :joy:

It would make sense after Mikami left since he was the ‘father of horror’ of his studio. Hi-Fi Rush was a big success for them, I think, so they can now branch out & do other stuff.

I do want MS to have its own survival horror franchise though so maybe they can get some of their other studios to work on something.

Appears that im never getting The Evil Within 3. UGH. SMH.

Yeah, especially with how big the genre is again nowadays. This year for example is gonna be crazy for horror fans in gaming.

Sadly that seems to be the case.

I liked the first one more, i.e. the concept of a changeable world with real location variety & enough mystery to keep the plot moving forward was better. EW2 meanwhile…

I think the everytown USA with father-daughter family drama was too ‘westernized’ for my liking. The first game seemed much more mature as well.

Unfortunately.

I like both. Gave both an 8.5/10. Prefer the first game but the second game had the far better ending boss fight, better boss fights in general and was better on a technical level with visuals and performance compared to the first game. I would love TEW 3 to combine the best aspects from both games but that doesn’t appear to be happening.

They made a mobile game with a fantastic J-RPG design

But I would still like Microsoft to acquire Mistwalker and give them Studio support.

Imagine something in the universe of Terra Battle

Mikami made more than just horror games though. I feel like a big reason The Evil Within got made to begin with was because he made Resident Evil and Bethesda wanted their own.

I believe that is the case, if I remember correctly from a video about RE4 history.

It’s great that Tango are so creative and feel they can dip into whatever genre they feel like

Do wish we were getting another horror game from them though

Well he got something better than what MS offered him. The “MS has trouble retaining talent” is nonsense.

Microsoft buying Netflix confirmed

And it looks like I was right on the money when I said that Joe probably didn’t want to go back to publishing and wanted to do something new and be involved more in the development process.

Interesting! So Netflix making multiplatform games now.

The whole “MS has trouble retaining talent” phrase is just a myth since most game developers and creative leads usually leave once they are finished with their role on a project. It is going to be interesting to see what AAA game Netflix Gaming is making for Joseph Staten to join.

I doubt it at the moment. But maybe one day if Microsoft is looking to get more into the movie and tv industry. I just can’t see it for another 10 years or so.

I can’t blame him. Being in more significant role and the creative director for a new AAA project is a good fit for him than going back to Xbox Game Studios Publishing. Although it was a missed opportunity for Microsoft to allow him to do some sort of expansion for Halo Infinite before he left.

I guess so. But it also makes sense while Netflix is starting out.

It makes a lot of sense for Netflix

They’re reaching or have reached their limit on how many people are willing to sub to Netflix for shows and movies and they need additional revenue streams

Gaming continues to grow and grow, they’d be foolish not to try, it’s why MS are pushing GP and gaming so hard, it’s their next big pillar alongside cloud/windows etc
