Seems like some pretty big Youtube/Twitch people are getting invites to this event

So the leak was right about this sort of event. Very likely Starfield announcement is coming. Can’t say it will be tomorrow but definitely this month.

Completely random Skyrim post incoming…

I built a new gaming PC a couple of weeks ago, so I decided to install a “no compromises” modded version of Skyrim. The last time I was seriously into modding Skyrim was about 4 years ago, though I have tinkered once or twice since then. At that time, I had a graphics card with 8 gigs of VRam, which was plenty to run a nice modded setup, but not enough to really go nuts. My new card has plenty of VRam, so I wanted to see how Skyrim would look if I could run every mod I wanted. (Spoiler alert - it looks good)

For those of you who have any interest in modding and have never done it before, there has never been a better time to try. The modding scene has evolved so much over the last few years it’s almost hard to believe.

What would have taken me an entire week to achieve a few years ago, I was able to do the other night in less than an hour - most of which was taken up with simple tasks like installing a couple of programs and watching a tutorial video on YouTube.

The actual modding process can now be almost entirely automated. Everything from downloading to installing to managing the load order can now be handled through mod lists - which (generally speaking) are created by people with way more time and expertise than I have. Once you have the infrastructure set up on your PC you can literally just click “download” on a mod list and walk away from the PC. A few hours later (depending on your download speeds) you will have a modded game ready to play.

The setup I went with the other night was using two compatible mod lists from Nexus Mods - downloaded, installed, and managed through Nexus’s own program called Vortex. The two mod lists included 700 mods or so totaling about 80-90 GB.

There are probably better mod lists available through Wabbajack, but installing and managing them takes a bit more work. It’s still a one-click download and install process, but there is more to do on the front end for setup and the back end for managing load order.

Ultimately, I will probably end up with one of the Wabbajack mod lists, but if you just want to try out modding to see what it’s like the Nexus/Vortex mod lists are a better place to start.

As a side note, I was also shocked to see how many mods in the modlist were newly created over the last couple of years. The Skyrim modding community is still thriving, and there are now mods that completely overhaul the combat and animations. With these mods you can play Skyrim with something closely approximately Elder Scrolls combat (if that’s your cup of tea).

Anyway, one of the main reasons I built this PC was to play modded Starfield. It is very nice to know that the modding community is alive and well and it’s getting easier to mod all the time.

It’s still more hands on with Xbox but moddings has come along way on consoles too.

Him and his VGC crew have been going on about Perfect Dark, Everwild and Fable for 2 years now. Barely a word about the other games in development at Xbox, maybe because there’s nothing negative to say?

To be fair I don’t think this is that surprising, many predicted fable will be at earliest a 2025 game. Avowed next year, hellblade 2 is either end of this year or next year as well.

I think contraband could be this year as it was internally delayed apparently and avalanche just showcased it in its highlight reel.

No surprises here. We basically knew that Hellblade and Avowed were next up (late 2023 or 2024).

I think Fall 2024 or Spring 2025 still counts as “miles away” but if it’s longer than that, so be it. Fable is the most important game they have announced coming after Starfield and they have to get it right (I think they will).

It is a very strange place.

Rather than beautiful, I’d say it was striking, or dramatic.

The drive from the airport to Reykjavik is so flat and barren, like some post apocalyptic moonscape. But where the land offers up features, they are really dramatic ones. The waterfalls, lakes and beaches are often totally alien looking. You can see why Iceland often gets used for film locations that are alien planets.

Take our own booze, mind. Christ on a bike, it’s expensive.

lol, the nearest Xbox game after Starfield is not Hellblade 2 or Avowed.

I took it to mean next major title/first party and not Xbox exclusive in general which seems fairly likely

Also, Fable -Witcher like, yes please

“Let’s see Todd’s Starfield card”

What do they mean Witcher-like? Hopefully they don’t forget about the renown system and good/evil system that was in place…

I really don’t want this to be another “Witcher-like” in the sense that you are a hero or a protognist. I want to be able to be evil… Fable did role playing very good. The freedom to be who I want to be.

The most likely next title from Xbox after Starfield will be Forza Motorsport.

Don’t worry! Some journalists and “players” on the internet are very simple about observing and analyzing games. Probably he saw the character mounted on a horse and I think similar to Witcher (sarcasm).

Oh yea I forgot about Forza

I think the Witcher comparison is basically just that it’s a third-person fantasy open world RPG with melee combat and magic. I really wouldn’t read too much into it. Horizon has also been compared to Fable because the success of Horizon is why Fable was greenlit, but they will still be very different games even if they fill a similar gap in the portfolio.
