MS havn’t bought an individual studio since what, 2018/19 with Inxile and Obsidian right? If they wanted these studios they’d have bought them long ago, it’s clearly not their focus and they want publishers or bigger targets

Especially Neon Giant of all things

Other than the amazing environments (which you can only truly appreciate with the free camera on PC) The Ascent was painfully mediocre in almost everyway

I figure they could’ve still acquired them after the ABK announcement. It’s like 10 dudes that made and indie game with a very mixed reception.

These are the new prizes for a contest here. Now… this may be just me, but I don’t think latest Obsidian means just Grounded and Pentiment. Just a hunch.

Trip must be in March/April too. So maybe we see Avowed by E3?

This 100%. Agree completely.

Just saw this. Was really hoping that Microsoft would have been able to get Neon Giant. I love twin stick shooters and it’s a genre that barely exists. Oh well.

Perhaps it will be the second half of 2023 and E3 will be the showcase like Forza Horizon 5.

I have to agree with @Klobrille there. Psychonauts 2 is one of my favourite games ever. Period.

I am really curious to see what Double Fine comes up with next. I hope they don’t give up on big productions completely, I think they have shown with this one they can make something magnificent and big.

I have to agree. Psychonauts 2 is an amazing game that everyone should play. Folks are doing themselves a disservice if they don’t at least try it out directly.

Great game, but out of those in the pic I’d have to say Forza Horizon 4.

My order would be:

  1. Forza Horizon 4
  2. Hellblade
  3. Gears 5
  4. Halo Infinite Campaign
  5. Psychonauts 2
  6. Forza Horizon 5
  7. Halo MCC
  8. Sea of Thieves
  9. Grounded
  10. Gears Tactics
  11. Tell Me Why
  12. Halo Infinite MP
  13. Minecraft Dungeons
  14. MS Flight Simulator

Have not played Deathloop and Ori, and not enough of SoD 2 to rank.

While Klobrille listed 17 games, I have it as 6 games if we’re going based on when Series X/S released. Flight Simulator, Halo Infinite, Deathloop, Gears Tactics, Forza Horizon 5 and Psychonauts 2.

For me, it’s Halo Infinite (campaign). My 2021 and 2nd best game of the generation for me.

Yep, that is probably the more real alternatives, arguments could be made that Gears Tactics and Flight Sim doesn’t count either since they are late ports of allready released games. So:

  1. Halo Infinite Campaign
  2. Psychonauts 2
  3. Forza Horizon 5
  4. Deathloop

Not played Deathloop yet, but very much doubt it would beat any of the above three games.

True but they did release on Xbox Series X/S on November 10th, 2020 for Gears Tactics and July 2021 for Flight Simulator. Also, both games were released on PC before Xbox Series X/S existed so no one can say that they were late ports.

I ended up enjoying Deathloop more than I expected. Still need to play Psychonauts 2 though.
