Xbox Developer Direct confirmed for January 22nd

You know, I like the involvement from Xbox account for reacting to many users on the news. I know it was not the intentional, but the timing of news was absolutely warranted.

Shinobi said not the first half, so that could still be July or August hopefully.

Yup. Because any further means probably too close to GTA and that’s the tricky thing. For all we know Take Two does delay it into 2027 at the last minute and Fable could have taken November as release month. I really want this game to be this year!

Clearly they have been cooking! And yeah, about that games by Sean.

Yeah that’s a great release date, hopefully at least one month before GTA6.

I’m pretty sure I’m not the first person to think or say this, but what if Fable is just Shrek; In the sense that the world is littered with “fables” and bed time stories all mushed in this word. I.E, little red riding hood, jack and the beanstalk.

It would be an interesting concept, paired with its own narrative of course.

Super excited for Fable, that and Gears E day are the games I’m most looking forward besides GTA:VI this year.

I really hope they nail the humor in Fable. A good balance of dark fantasy’ish with humor like the previous games. The very first trailer with the toad and fairy definitely showed a little of the direction they were going for with humor, and I hope there’s much more.

Not sure if we need to see the expressions returning. Of everything in development at XGS now I am most excited about Fable.

Less than 9 hours to go! As an Aussie the times of these things suck but as a gamer I got to get up and watch at 5am. Least 5am is better than June 3am shows :joy:

Sure, it’s prerecorded and I could watch at a more reasonable time but at least that time of the morning the kids are still asleep so I can watch in peace.

That’s the best part of the Fable game. I don’t k know if it’s the first time Playground is doing a non-racing game in recent years, but it feels like it. I’m curious what they bring to the table as a studio beyond just Forza.

Still think there might be five games. That’s my take on today’s direct.

Really excited to see Forza Horizon in Japan, that’s going to be a monster. Fable… I’m not sure yet. Hoping that what they show resonates, but I don’t have the confidence yet to say that’s a sure thing.

So with the FH6 release date leaked I was hoping it would happen for Fable too. Wonder if that’s an indication they might not share the release date just yet in a few hours. For all I know it’s not an indication of anything, hey we’ll see.

But I really like how PG is making it clear that they’re about to show a lot and that not all of the shine goes to FH6. Very excited.

FH6 only got leaked because it came from FH5 itself. Fable has nowhere to insert an update.

Same and i think it might be smart not to give a date so early, specially with stuff like GTA with not known dates yet, just put 2026 or fall 2026 and it’s fine, if i recall correctly it’s not the first time an exact date isn’t given on this show, and if i recall correctly again, every first party shown at a DD always released on the same year right? No big deal tbh, the last months of each year are normally packed, picking a good date can help a lot.

BTW it seems FH6 is 70€, maybe MS is learning? their pricing strategy was just bad last year with stuff like Doom at 80€. Hope they tried to release smaller and new IP’s like Avowed or Clockwork Revolution at 60€ instead, tho i don’t expect any big publisher to do this sadly

Is there different pricing than USD? That might be an actual regional pricing issue. Like I know with how bad the yen is (exchange rate) games (and everything global) are like 2000 or 3000 yen higher than they’d be ideally. The only real way around that is region specific products that are region or language locked (like Nintendo does for Japanese models). Doom was $70 in USD. I only remember them trying $80 with the Outer Worlds 2 and they backtracked on that (though let’s be real, that’s still happening just when other publishers start to do it too). We’re never getting $60 back. Consumers have done their moaning and groaning and failed, so now $70 is the standard and inflation and cost of development has only worsened since then. If Nintendo is charging $80 for games that have very controlled scopes and costs, then honestly I’m surprised the rest of the industry isn’t at $90. I wonder what they’ll do if they get to a point where every new AAA game is $100 at launch. That doesn’t even sound sustainable (though I guess with premium editions they’ve already surpassed that).

Yes it’s a regional thing, on games like Flight Simulator, Doom or CoD they did the 70$-80€ ugly conversion, specially on Steam where very few developers do that, i saw the charts on European couintries on Doom’s release and it was bad, i’m glad they are doing 70€ for a massive franchise like FH6, gives me faith others like Fable or GoW will follow.

I agree big publishers going back to 60$/€ is copium, tho last year was a really good year for lower priced games, KCD2 was 60, Exp33 was 45, SIlksong, Arc Raiders… but yes none of these came from big publishers
