yeaaaaah no (the date)
Having a extended show is great, I think having long demos for single games is a bad idea as we all know for the last few E3ās people who donāt like a game will just scream next game I donāt care who cares about this game and so on. Having a short and sweet showing of the games is probably the best bet, although some games probably do deserve longer as they could have a lot more hype than others like Starfield. I think 10-15minutes for a single game max and only do it for 1 or 2 big games because if they did it for many then it will be a slugfest.
Some predictions of mine for stuff that could fill the Japanese content block
-
Dragonās Dogma 2 reveal (Capcom)
-
Persona on Game Pass (Atlus)
-
New Armored Core? The leaked screenshots looked like it was pretty far along (FromSoftware/Bandai Namco)
-
Bandai Namco new project (Tekken 8?)
-
Tales of Arise on Game Pass, hopefully in a highlight reel (maybe with other stuff like Danganronpa V3, Nier Replicant) and not itās own spot like with Yakuza LAD last year (donāt like already released games taking up time at these shows)
Less likely
-
FF7R on Game Pass. I think if Sony has a deal where all FF7R games must launch exclusive to PS first, then Xbox will not bother trying to get these games ever
-
New Yakuza announcement. They usually do these at Asia/Japan events or on their own like with the Lost Judgment countdown site
-
Soul Hackers 2 making an appearance. Sorry, Geoff got it I think. I donāt think it will be on Game Pass either
-
XGS published JP game. I donāt think any of these are far enough along yet, but weāll see
Just for fun, my completely unreasonable dream scenarios
-
Massive Atlus backlog on Game Pass. This includes all the Personas, spin-offs (dancing games, fighting games, musou game), Catherine, Vanillaware games, SMT3HD and SMTV. The whole lot.
-
Also Atlus showcasing Project Refantasy for the first time
-
NISA backlog for Game Pass. All the Disgaeas, all their Falcom games
-
Lost Odyssey 2 with Mistwalker returning for the writing and concepts and Marvelous developing the game (I choose them because the actual Lost Odyssey development team was absorbed into Marvelous a long time ago)
I think my actual predictions are reasonable. Now hopefully we only go up from last year when the only JP things they showed were an already announced Kickstarter game (Eiyuden Chronicle) coming to Game Pass and an already released game (Yakuza LAD) coming to Game Pass.
I know
I had a feeling we would get an extended showcase but I would like to know the runtime of the main showcase
I really loved the extended showcase last year, Iām hype for that one !
Yeah long showings for 1 or 2 games per show seems almost a given doesnt it?
Yeah it makes sense going forward, give games bigger showcases with slower pace at the extended showcase, keep fast pace action trailers for the short attention spans at the main event.
1080 60 Nice
4K60 after the show even nicerrrr
This is exactly what they should be doing. Offer an efficient showcase followed by a Treehouse-like in-depth show. Iām all in on this format.
have a feeling Fable wonāt appear at the main showcase but rather on the extended one. interview with developer accompanied with a ābehind the sceneā trailer like the Hellbladeās one. characters arts, field designs, etc. basically they arenāt ready with a gameplay but are with screenshots/arts and all.
I canāt wait until 4k is the baseline for live shows.
RIP Mixer, was the best thing about it honestly, it had 4K live streams.
Premier doesnāt matter after the show⦠Simply watch the separate trailers
I donāt expect any big announcement on the extended showcase. Especially for Fable. Just doesnāt make sense.
Deep dives for the existing games will be there for sure.
LETS GO!!!
I wonder if we get a 5 min trailer for starfield sunday then the big demo on the 14th
