Xbox Acquisition |OT7| Come on down for your chance to win on “Who will Xbox buy next?!”

I think only reason they would enter is for another avenue to utilize AI and cloud . Plus , having access to millions via a streaming platform could help out those ventures . Gaming of course would be an added bonus

MS getting into Film/TV production and streaming means a new division operating at a loss for a decade or more. I really don’t think they want to bother.

Let’s remember, Microsoft is raking in 80+ billion in profits per year. They need to continue spending and investing many billions per year otherwise their cash is losing value. They also face regulatory scrutiny that is going to make most acquisition processes long.

What Microsoft needs to do is identify areas that they can grow without too much regulatory scrutiny, and that have some synergy with their business goals (but not enough to generate any regulatory questions).

There are not too many areas where they can do that. Transmedia may be one though. Id also argue that they could look to expand their devices portfolio. Something like getting into the semiconductor industry could also be an interesting path.

AI is where they will go. We are lucky there was a window of opportunity where gaming could fit between cloud and AI.

Transformers or warhammer 40k

Microsoft should get into toys and figurines. Hasbro??

I think that diversity for gamepass is important. I also think that being the “platform” for some genres is important for console sales, like being the WRPG, FPS, Racing, RTS platform.

With Eidos, Arkhane, Inxile, Obsidian there is a possibility to cultivate some atmospheric genres around Steampunk, which could compensate the immense anime flavor of the Sony platform.

CD should not passed if possible. Not necessarly to get “another studio” but to consolidate the Initiative Studio, which is still an embryo in terms of autonomy and size.

While transmedia offers a significant opportunity for microsoft to expand its brand and leverage popular IPs that success depends on execution, it might take time for ms to understand how that industry works, risking xbox resources, prioritizing established gaming ips like cod is a safer bet, considering how terrible some games tied to movie franchises has done lately, like avengers, guardians of the galaxy and I am not sure how things are going for avatar

We are about to see a new era for abk https://twitter.com/tomwarren/status/1737525937812471863

I like this moving quickily weakens the FTC ability to undo anything. Get the stuff on gamepass etc so the ftc is arguing to harm consumers.

Is there a specific date when the ftc case will come to an end?

No, the ftc administrative hearing would begin 21 or 31 days (I forget which) after the 9th district appeals court ruling is made. That internal charade would carry on for a long while.

Just re the recent WB and Paramount talks:

Does this Gamepass montage exist? If so, is it recent? I find it strange that TMNT is there when all the games are First Party from Microsoft and TMNT even if it is very good is not a big seller of Gamepass there are more popular games to put forward for the service
