Would like to see a developer do something like what Moon studios did with Ori. The games beauty is simply art at its finest and the gameplay, music and story were just amazing. Double fine did something similar with Psychonauts 2, the game was brimming with so much imagination. I would like to see a Sonic game that captures such beauty, heartfelt story and is filled with imagination rather than just the same platforming. This is something that I think the movie and Sonic prime are able to do to some extent.
I don’t see Microsoft publishing big titles unless they own the ip. Microsoft did a lot of that during the 360 and that’s what hurt them at the end.
don’t see the point since they release most of their games multiplat unless a platform holder decides to fund one of their projects.
Of course, I was talking about making a new ip for xbox, afterall sony ended being the owner of demon soul and bloodborne and namco is the owner of dark souls and elden ring, just see how big their latest games has been and their main audience is pc so isnt like they are gonna risk a lot, afterall they got the next game from hideo kojima and I am more than sure that it will be owned by xbox
That didnt stopped sony, also most of their audience is in pc, I dont think is a terrible idea to publish one new ip from them
This is a thread about acquisitions not publishing deals: no one is opposed to a publishing deal.
I know? I just suggested that a publishing deal could work better for xbox than a acquisition of fromsoftware, I dont think is prohibited to discuss about this deals as an alternative here or should I just say “nah, xbox isnt going to buy fromsoft, pass to another choice” and leave it like that?
Most From Software games are published by Bandai Namco and that works well as long as Xbox maintains a strong relationship that is good. I’d rather From Software keep on like that. If anything, I’d say visit the old titles like Otogi and Ninja Blade.
If I remember well ninja blade is owned by xbox meanwhile otogi belongs to sega, my point was that I dont think an acquisition could work well but having a better relationship could, especially if xbox publish some new ips from them that will be OWNED by xbox(if it wasnt clear already)
I dont know, maybe I am wrong here but I think is a better investment instead of making a deal withpeople can fly, I dont know why some people are against the idea of xbox being closer with this type of developers
I think getting a commitment for a series is very hard with a developer like this and they seem to have already picked or committed to a certain partner. If Microsoft ever got them to do a new IP chance, they could stay committed for a sequel would be hard which is a problem the Xbox one experienced. Most of these developers like PCF tend to struggle or have a certain situation where they pretty much need help and sometimes it’s a way for Microsoft to test if an acquisition is plausible. I think From Software would pretty much have an IP that they need help with unless you mean just publishing like Activision did with Sekiro in the United States. In all I don’t think you’re wrong, but I think you’ll more likely see games from other devs like Platinum, Level 5 and so on before you ever see one from From software as I’d imagine they are backed up with requests like a bloodborne sequel for starters.
I don’t think there is any reason for them to sign a publishing deal with Xbox when they could sign one with Bandai Namco unless it was a project that Bandai Namco wasn’t interested in.
Allright, fine, forget it
Agreed. They might as well be owned at this point by Bandai Namco.
I actually agree with you here mad, from software is one of those studios that probably should not be acquired by Xbox, far to many ties elsewhere. The best option is the one you proposed a game published and funded by Xbox preferrebly day one gamepass but could be purchased for Xbox/PC. I mean if PlayStation can fund a exclusive why couldn’t Xbox do the same? I will say this however I do recall Deck 13 being on the acquisition watchlist and they did make one of the better souls like games in surge series probably why the were on the list in the first place to fill that gap in first party that no one currently produces.
Is ok dude, isnt worth to continue that discussion here, the point was about trying to make a new ip with them that will be owned by xbox(like I have said several times), not make a deal like sekiro, after the success of elden ring I though that maybe xbox would be interested in having one game made by fromsoft, just look how many people are asking sony for more bloodborne, but apparently there is absolutely no reason for them to work with microsoft when they have more success with bandai or sony, you could apply that same logic to hideo kojima or square enix but they are now working with xbox, is clear some people around here just prefer to say no to everything that isnt sega or capcom, in the end it was just a suggestion, nobody knows whats gonna be their next move, I am sure that if you asked for activision around here during 2021 everyone would have been against that idea
There are reasons why some of us say that. From Software’s games have exploded in popularity over the years, they have not done an exclusive game since 2015’s Bloodbourne.
They are riding a high right now, starting to do exclusives again (especially with the smaller platform) would only hamper their growth as a studio. Why do that when third party publishers are there to work with you as well?
Hideo Kojima is working with Xbox because of the cloud, Square Enix will (at best) make multiplatform games. Don’t see what either have in common with From.
Isnt just about fromsoft dude, I have seen you and many others just saying no to several suggestions instead of seeing the possibilities, I dont understand why you ignore that pc is one of the biggest markets for fromsoft, and sony didnt made an investment to just do nothing, I am sure they are going to make another exclusive deal with them sooner or later , there was no point for hideo to go for someone else rather than sony because thats where his market is but now he is making a game for xbox, especially in a market that is one of the smallest in the entire industry(cloud), I am not saying fromsoft is going to work with xbox or that it should, it was just an idea
I like to think if I disagree with someone that I try and describe why I don’t agree, perhaps I need to do a better job at that. I think it’s important to put ideas out there but also think it’s important to think through/discuss why/why not an idea.
That said, Kojima wanted to make a cloud game. He went to Stadia first, that didn’t work out so he went to Microsoft. I wouldnt be surprised if he would have gone with Sony if they had the infrastructure required and were willing to fund the game.
I would love to see Microsoft sign a deal with Microsoft. I just think it goes against industry trends towards multiplatform to help grow IP and expand business.
Well at this point we gotta have to disagree and leave it like that, I am not trying to change your opinion about, I just think it wouldnt be crazy to see it happen in a future especially when sony has been doing it for a long time, even nintendo sometimes, I just hope that the community of xbox era will be prepare if xbox ends buying someone like paradox or square instead of sega, I though that after abk the idea will be clear, xbox is always going to do unexpected stuff, nobody saw bethesda, neither abk and I am more than sure that nobody will be able to tell the next target, thats why I prefer to see the pros and cons of every choice instead of just going for my favorites
Fodder for week!
YaY!
