Acquisition doesn’t need to be with pure cash
I don’t understand why Sony would go after EA and it would be extremely expensive. They’d have to keep all of the sports games mutli-platform and it just doesn’t seem play into their current strategy.
T2 + Zynga has a market cap north of $30 billion and putting a premium on it…as well as the price likely going up due to multiple bidders…I don’t see how Sony gets it. Could Sony swing it? Sure, with cash and stock options, and putting aside other strategic acquisitions, but it seems like such a stretch.
If I were to put money on a publisher that Sony fights for someday it’s SE. Maybe Capcom, too.

I mean we kinda could imagine an acquisition on the zenimax scale again but never paying 70B for Activision. I just think they will focus on partners from here on out unless Ubisoft and co wanna sell for example.
Also the biggest detail ps fanboys like to ignore is that…Take two would nee to WANT to sell.
Im coming back to that show Phil and the president of Take 2 held.
IDK about T2 but Xbox will definitely get another big studio or a publisher in the future.

Everything is for sale for the right price. If a compelling offer was put in for T2, a publicly traded company, then the board is obligated to explore it. It’s one of their primary jobs. If the bid is higher in value than the value from their own performance growth scenarios, then they’d present it to their majority shareholders.
T2 has been on a growth streak the last 10 years. I don’t know what all they have in the works but there is a good chance that GTA6 is going to be huge for them. And now they have Zynga. With Sony’s current position, and T2 likely looking forward to increased value as GTA6 approaches, it just doesn’t seem like the stars are aligned on that scenario at this time.

Yeah, they won’t buy anything until the deal is done. After that they will definitely do more acquisitions.

I think MS won’t touch Take 2 for a long while, not until they see how the next GTA pans out without Dan. I have a bad feeling about Take 2’s future.
It would be amazing though if MS could somehow get Dan Houser (I know he formed a new studio but still). That would be my dream ‘‘leader’’ signing.
Doubt MS will buy anyone until the AB acquisition has gone through. My hope is that they focus now a bit on studios with a ton of potential like IOI, Asobo maybe Crystal D/Eidos etc. before someone else snatches them up, if they’re willing to sell of course.

I agree with his sentiment, although I think he let his emotions get the best of him in tone a couple times.
Overall, good video though for sure.
MS are protecting their investments. Amazon, Tencent, getting Take 2 is terrible for them.
