OT5 for the win and with Valentine’s Day almost here, Microsoft should show some love for the Japanese market.
Acquire Treasure, JP Games, Mistwalker, then make a deal with Konami to buy their game IPs and then we can get both new Konami games, plus Hudson Soft games too.
I for one would welcome a new Melty Blood and it is a shame there hasn’t been one in years.
I’ll be very curious if in July WB becomes available how Microsoft approaches it, my belief is they will go hard after all the studio’s and the MK IP, perhaps even the legacy Lego games. WB fills some of the major gaps remaining in gamepass, 3rd person action adventure, fighting, and more e rated content.
Right there with you, I’m very curious to see how things play out with WB Games in the short and long term. One of my top questions is, now that Microsoft just bought a bunch of mega IP, would they even value a WB Games with licensed IP? Would they prioritize any further acquisitions for IP they could own without having to worry about licensing?
CoD will absolutely be exclusive…after all, if Sony can pay for a game to be timed exclusive for 2 years…Microsoft can keep CoD …an ip they will own and fund - timed exclusive to Series X for 17 years.
Year 18 they will cancel the PS5 version, due to “lack of interest”
I don’t see much difference between buying the studio to make games exclusive vs buying the games individually. If anything, by buying the studio MS takes on all the responsibility of any failures or losses due to the game being exclusive. While Sony if they make FF exclusive via contract they will have pretty much zero responsibility after a failure. SE and FF could die and Sony will be like
So here’s a question. There’s Playstation fans all over claiming Sony will go get Take Two or EA. If they do go after them, they are public companies. Will Microsoft/Xbox swoop in? I mean if Sony think they can get away with it, so can the company that’s behind them in revenue.
Nothing would surprise me now. If Microsoft was in talks with the largest third-party publisher then they were likely in talks with all of the notable ones smaller than it, including T2.
Personally, I just want to see Sega with Microsoft resources. I want to see them experiment more again and be weird because they could take more risks with the Game Pass model.
This is just some baseless PS fans wish for Sony to “counter” Xbox acquisitions. Sony has around 20 billion dollars of cash on hand, they couldn’t acquired either one of these companies.
Extremely unpopular opinion I’m sure, but with a Sega acquisition, I want at least some games to still be allowed on Switch. Like the new Etrian Odyssey Atlus is working on
I have 0 confidence this title would be successful anywhere other than Switch due to it being a very niche genre (DRPG) with the fanbase being entirely handheld oriented since it was a DS/3DS series.
Hatsune Miku Project Diva is another series I’m not so sure would survive on Xbox exclusivity.
Obviously, put all this on Xbox, yeah. That helps build an audience for this stuff on the platform, but I enjoy the really niche stuff that is under the Sega/Atlus banner but am not so sure Xbox exclusivity would be good for those games.
Hell, it’s probably the only way Sega even agrees to a buyout.
