They’ve had the marketing right for a ton of WB games sinse the PS4 era. I think MKX was even revealed at Sony’s conference.
Same happened with zenimax, activision and square west (avengers and GOTG) and this one parent company is closer to SONY.
Thise marketing deals are not relevant in any way or form. At the end of the day, the only that will matter is how much are any of the interested parties paying for the studios.
And if Iran reports are to be believed, sony is competing againts other 6 players (one of them being MS mind you) to get one of them.
There’s a Sony acquisition thread…
Well the FTC probably wouldn’t let Call of Duty be exclusive.
What are thoughts on future Aquisitions and exclusivity? Does the sentiment that the bigger the publisher they get the more likely select titles will be Multi-Platform make sense due to public opinions and regulatory concern
Oh I agree! I just dislike the extreme ends of,
“MICROSOFT ISNT ALLOWED TO BUY ANYTHING ANYMORE!”
and
“TAKE TWO AND EA NEXT BABBBBYYY”
Just, like, people need to chill sometimes. Lmao
Haha, indeed.
Warzone won’t be exclusive. The mainline games will be…
And lol at thinking FTC can tell a company they have to put a title on competitor platforms for all time. Why should they ? Will MS get Spider Man or Uncharted or something in return ?
It’s crazy that Ubisoft still got more employees than Embracer group
I think the best path forward remains strengthening Xbox’s position further in the west. There are still big gains to be made in Europe and that is an easier market for them to strengthen and potential overtake Sony in than Japan.
Sega and Capcom would certainly help do that, however the western publishers and developers could just sway this thing for Xbox.
If Sony is deciding to go the Square Enix route, that imo is a bonus for Xbox, it’s not their strong position and it leaves the door still open in Europe.
Focus on either of the two publishers I mentioned in Europe or try to land Ubisoft, WBG, or a collection of big independent or high potential western developers including CDPR, IOI, Asobo, People Can Fly, Crytek, Supergiant, Hazelite, Hello Games, Jackbox, Techland, Humanoid, Build a Rocket Boy etc. Make Xbox the impossibly better western gaming system.
I really hope MS don’t let IOI and Asobo slip away. Hard to believe MS didn’t have some sort of soft agreement in place for CD when the PD deal was made.
MS trajectory right now is the biggest names in the business. Its not extreme to say Ubisoft or Take 2 as the narrative is there.
They don’t seem to have any interest in IP or studios that won’t move the needle.
There seems to be interest with studios like Certain Affinity and IOI.
I used to think the same, but then Crystal Dynamics were bought out.
I think their hands were tied for s move that large. I do think they could get Certain Affinity though, it doesn’t have IP, so I imagine the studio could be had significantly cheaper maybe even under the FTC approval amount of 93 million. Other stuff I think they’re is interest but it would wait till after ATVI close.
On what planet will NRs get acquired by tencenr? They rather go under.
Depends on the needle. They need japanese studios. Not western ones. You cant buy a kon publisher. But you can buy some studios.
I think they are eyeing a Japanese publisher next. Phil has mentioned needing a bigger first party presence in Japan numerous times.
I believe all of Xboxs moves in Japan and Asia in general will be through XGP. Being headed by Matt Smith who was recruiting on Twitter recently. I doubt they ever buy anyone there.
This thread is always who we want MS to buy and its being proven that we have complete opposite ideas to them.
I said Eidos, Turtle Rock, Frontier as I have amazing memories of Deus Ex, L4D, Elite, the reality is there is no value to any of the games these devs put out. None of this will sell XGP. Its the same for WB, any Japanese publisher as well. No value to any of this in a subscription service world.
I had no interest in Activision as I never played anything from them so I never accounted for it. The same as everyone. What happened? MS bought them. Now I’m thinking what else do I write off due to no interest lol.
Ubisoft thats who. A truly global publisher who has studios in markets MS have said they want to be active in and I personally don’t give a dam about.
