Microsoft fumbled on this one like I feared they would.

Missed opportunity, but there are a ton of other opportunities out there

Oh nice, you were in on negotations? Where did they mess up, I’m really curious to find out!

I was going to include that but my post was getting a little too long anyways, but CD has a lot of recent valuable experience with GaaS, something that Sony could have really used.

Considering how Embracer puts their games on Gamepass, i’d see this as a victory.

But when these games are good, real, real, real good, they can give you in $1B+ revenue. Plus, for a platform holder, these games can bring more people into the ecosystem.

Well, looking at Avengers…Well, I am not sure  Ironically the campaign content was good there.

There is a handful of games that can bring 1B in revenue at once. Most of the publishers have around 3b in yearly revenue. Only ABK was the exception with 8b in revenue. Then Electronic Arts is at 6.5b. And all of it is mostly coming from GaaS games.

Didn’t GoW and Uncharted make 1B+? Not necessarily a year

Of course on a long timeline, more games bring such amount of money.

I was thinking more about Microsoft’s recent acquisitions and they have all been about major IP (Call of Duty, World of Warcraft, Elder Scrolls, Fallout, Overwatch, Diablo, etc). I think the most logical next acquisition for Microsoft is Square Enix Japan to gain access to Final Fantasy, Dragon Quest, etc. Some people may think this is crazy but Microsoft tried to buy Square once before.

Now that we know they are interested in Warner Studios I think their number one goal is to get NetherRealm own the most popular VS Fighting license. and Rocksteady for having the best Super Heros Studio.

NRS will be a test.

Like many people by now I just wonder if MS really cares all that much about superhero games. Sony is absolutely interested and it shows but is MS? I mean none of their studios are able to make them, so now indeed is a good way to see if they would go after them for that.

It is not like they can’t make it. I think most of their studios are not interested in superhero games in the first place.

Imagine Sony buying Square Enix anime division, while Microsoft grabbing gaming division :fire:

I’d be okay with that… so long as Sony let’s Crunchyroll hire some of its damn staff back.

Well at least they made a good decision to move Funimation content to Crunchyroll as I heard CR app is superior. But I heard that they did some weird stuff with subscription update or something. Don’t follow it.

Imagine you have the freedom of making whatever you want, you wouldn’t look at adapting someone else’s work, especially something like superheroes, that’s creative bankruptcy :ps_salt:

Well, there are studios that like making that stuff. We don’t know.

I don’t believe creative led studios like to do that, I think they’re coerced one way or another into it or have nerdy leadership that likes that stuff themselves.

There are a lot of people who are the fans of superheroes.

Trust Phil. He has the acumen. And he plays chess.
