Xbox Acquisition |OT5| Talking Exclusively About Xbox Acquisitions

That’s not technically correct

It was ACG who mentioned “a former multiplat game that is now exclusive because Microsoft bought the developer”

I did some digging and asked around and was told that he’s most likely referring to Techland. Which I’m pretty confident even now that that’s who he was referring to.

But he came out and denied that but then never said who it was and nothing has come since then. Yet no one has questioned him about it lol. Yet people hound me about stuff 12 months plus later about everything.

So for the record, I wasn’t saying Techland was acquired. I was saying that Techalnd is who I think ACG is talking about. Which I also still think to this day is who he was talking about. But I doubt he ever admits it.

Microsoft, quick, buy embracer group for the lols, but seriously I think this is why Microsoft are keeping their publishers split to an extent, so the responsibility doesn’t solely or even primarily fall onto 1 indiviual or small group of people

I’ll give it a go with assuming the current studio count is 32.

Publisher: Sega - 9 studios: Sega CS1 (RGG), Sega CS2 (Sonic Team), Hardlight Studio, Creative Assembly, Sports Interactive, Amplitude Studios, Demiurge Studios, Relic Entertainment, Atlus

9 Independent Studios: Supergiant Games, Humanoid Studios, Hello Games, Asobo, Certain Affinity, People Can Fly, JP Games, Platinum Games, IOI

End result - 4 studios with JRPG experience, 1 major mascot in sonic, a big focus on winning the pc gamers over, 2 massively creative studios to pair with Double Fine and Rare (Supergiant and Hello), a couple studios with very highly rated 3rd person action games and 1 up and coming studio that is striving to deliver a Mass Effect like game. This would be just about a dream scenario.

I waffled back and forth on whether to go with WB, Sega or Square Enix for the publisher. I went with who I thought was the most likely.

I know you said you wouldn’t want another publisher. However, if things go swimmingly with this Sega alliance I am not opposed to it happening. And if it doesn’t happen, then they had better grab Level-5 dammit. I miss those old Professor Layton games

I do believe that once the contracts end, all the games will be fully exclusive to Xbox/PC.

I can’t get to 50 but my ongoing wishlist is:

-Asobo

-IOI

-Crystal Dynamics

-Platinum Games

-Dontnod or Deck Nine

-Embark

-Humanoid

if they were to only get one more publisher it would be either WB or Ubisoft.

Ubisoft has like 50 studios so if you choice them you passed 50 :skull: :skull: :skull:

How many studios would Ubisoft and Capcom be individually?

EDIT: Ubisoft has 50 listed via Wikipedia. But the majority of them are either mobile/support studios.

I was thinking more the mainline FF.

Certain Affinity has to be the worst kept secret now.

I definitely think your on to something and if I remember correctly MS wants to make Game Pass the Netflix of gaming and I want to say I remember there was a report that Netflix spent 10 billion last year on movies and tv shows. So if MS really wants Game Pass to explode in popularity, they will need to spend a fortune.

I understand Game Pass will never be as big as Netflix, but if MS brings out a streaming stick, that lets you play Game Pass on your tv, plus stream sites like Netflix, it could be very successful for the company and then MS will need even more studios to make content.

So MS ending up with 50 studios is very possible in that scenario.

They should buy it before other start to have interest in them.

Because if other party start to try to buy them, it will increase the price first.

And they work on Halo, COD, Doom (online). So they are kind of expert on online competitive FPS. So If they was bought by, Sony for example, with deviation games and now they got bungie. That would make Sony a group of studio that are, COD/Halo direct competitor.

Never forget that a “COD killer” could emerge at some point. Especially if it’s put as a FP games buy Sony ( you could tell me that in the past Sony never reach this goal, but they were using internal studio, that are no expert on those game, with Bungie, a studio created by former COD developer, and CA in top of that to help created map, and so, they could go on this segment of gaming, that’s would be a very bad thing for MS, cause if Sony achieve it transition to Multi games, before MS is able to prove that they could make AAA narrative action/aventure, that would be bad to Xbox in general (of course they still got O-RPG, that are best than J-RPG).

So no for me they cannot let CA on the market.

A Japanese pub by 2024 seems reasonable at the rate Microsoft keeps shattering expectations.

I’m not saying you are wrong but that your statements on Techland are not unfortunately happened for now and for me Techland would have been a very good result for XBOX since i really love the Team and their Engine. I know ACG said this before of you but i don’t consider him good source after all.

But i would ask you another questione about Techland: Are we sure that XBOX didn’t already buy them and that the previous multiplatform title (now a Xbox esclusive) Is not their next IP (Fantasy title)?

I seen many times PR Saying “we are indipendent and nobody bought us” (Obsidian, Playground, housemarque and Bluepoint).

Who? Their first “original IP Game” looks interesting, as its a ripoff of classic 80s cartoons.

I’m digging it big time

After their Infinity Engine games remakes I would have said that I would be down for MS to acquire them, but looking at Mythforce, I say no thanks, apologies to those who think that it looks cool.
