MS would probably try to protect their partner studios as well unknown going deals with studios targets right now.
Wishful thinking… they wouldn’t sign anything until after activision goes through. They wouldn’t risk it not going through.
not really, i don’t expect MS to get all the studios. announcing one independent studio won’t do anything harm to Acti deal.
they are currently in going negotiation with studios from last year.
If MS were to buy SEGA I think they would keep the company as is, keep any publising arms and such and let them work independently. Give them a large chunk of cash to go out in Japan and pick up indie games as exclusives for xbox, as I think this is realistically the only way Xbox is going to get big Japanese games, though I myself couldn’t really care less about those games and I don’t really think Xbox needs them or else but still good to have.

I’m of the opinion that they aren’t nabbing any of the big JP publishers anyway (nor Sony). Just a smaller studio or 2, which may be all they need anyway as long as they keep working at getting the multiplats. There’s a lot of niche IPs under these big publishers that I think wouldn’t see the light of day again under exclusivity, they need to be on as much platforms as possible so they can maximize their audience and keep being made.
Anything is possible, I think that, outside unforeseen situations like the AB one, their next target should be something in Asia, their presence there is still abysmal. It’s not literally 0% like X1 gen, but I doubt MS is good enough with 1/2%.
Would be nice to slowly start pushing their hardware with marketing under Sega while still supporting the switch when possible. It could work.
I think Xbox may pickup a studio here and there but no publisher.
While they wait for the ABK deal to go through the big move they should make is securing Gamepass and Marketing rights for the big games like GTA6, Madden, NBA2K, FIFA. It would be a massive move that would give Gamepass a huge advantage over Playstation Plus Pass. Getting all those games Day1 on Gamepass would grow the service substantially. I know it doesn’t make sense to spend that much money right now with the console supply constraints. But once more chips are available then absolutely use the biggest brands in gaming to help push your service.
You have a point though, no one though at how it would be handled, nobody except Nintendo has been doing marketing with that. Whether Microsoft would just ignore and not comment about it or just say it is the way it is.
Epic created new studio in Poland, MS might need to invest in Poland studio or create a studio in Poland.
the area will have great talented dev hub and it will be cheaper than California/Santa Monica

Blizzard is a big influencer in Asia. All that Phil has to do is green lit a StarCraft sequel and the Korean, Chinese markets will love them

They definitely were planning to aquire more studios before ABK happeened.
Many were almost certain that they’ll announce a couple of studios this year.
ABK happened suddenly, it wasn’t in Microsoft’s plans.
Now, “IF” they completed or were in the process of completing a couple of acquisitions before ABK opportunity happened, do we think because of that Microsoft will drop these other plans?

A great smaller acquisition that could turn into something huge is The Astronaughts. They only have like 20 people. But the founder is formerly of People can Fly and helped a great deal on the gears franchise when Epic used to own them. Oh and he’s the creative director of BulletStorm
