Xbox Acquisition |OT5| Talking Exclusively About Xbox Acquisitions

Ubisoft + Capcom = perfection. :joy:

I am not much of a fan of Ubisoft but I love capcom, besides nintendo they probably make some of my favourite games. Resident evil is dope, DMC is dope, Mega Man is dope, I need to try monster hunter at some point, ace attorney is criminally over looked, street fighter is decent, Dead rising I still need to try. Capcom is loaded, darkstalkers deserved/deserves better, capcom vs’s is awesome. I would love their games on game pass.

Also with Microsoft flexing their cheque book, they could put capcom on a capcom vs microsoft/xbox perhaps as an insane cross over game for themselves

Don’t go crazy and try to buy everything, but be looking at a couple more publishers that will allow you to stay in a really strong position regardless of what happens to all the rest.

Don’t be like so many other big companies, not just in gaming, who couldn’t imagine that anyone new could challenge their position, and lost ground or got wiped out(almost impossible in this instance though.)

I’ve said it before, but Some folks should maybe take a pause in this thread and visit elsewhere. It’s ok not to live here. It’s hard to say a word with the same few voices constantly posting the same opinions in this thread.

I feel this has happened mainly because the topic has been on publishers only. A lot more to discuss on the individual studio level

Perhaps, but I think maybe it’s ok to let things slow up instead of flooding the thread with constant posts about the same thing. Not speaking of you obviously, but silence is golden sometimes so they say. Letting others speak may actually lead to a better topic.

Ubisoft is my favorite publisher and developer but they aren’t what they once were so I would hope that Microsoft could get them back to what they were. I do love The Division, AC pre-Valhalla, Watch Dogs is meh, Far Cry was better with 3/4/Primal than 5/6/New Dawn. Ghost Recon Wildlands was great but Breakpoint sucked. And I loved Immortals Fenyx Rising and hoping a sequel being in pre-production is true. I think Ubisoft needs to stop chasing the free to play/mobile/live service garbage and they would be so much better. I can see a game and there but Ubi is trying to make all of their games this way and most people including me don’t want that.

As for Capcom, I love Capcom as they’ve resurrected themselves the last five years. DMC 5 was my first in the series and im all in going forward. Love REmakes and current RE is good. Not into Mega Man but it was awesome back then. No interest in Monster Hunter but it’s massive so that would be great for Xbox exclusivity and I hope Dead Rising stays dead. Would prefer to see Dino Crisis come back.

I’m not so certain, I think with Activision it’s easy to point at them and understand why long running franchises like Call of Duty simply aren’t working as well as they used to - but Ubisoft with Assassin’s Creed and Far Cry and so on? I’m not so sure the developers know how to better respond to what people want from the franchise. I also think it’s optimistic to assume MIcrosoft would cut any live service plans - game pass does rather benefit from games with long term engagement after all. That said - while people seem to think they’ve gone down hill I’d argue that most of their games are still at least pretty good, and the sales numbers seem to support that with titles like Assassin’s Creed Valhalla selling huge numbers. And as I mentioned their titles, even the soft live service ones like AC: Valhalla have long term engagement which would suit Microsoft. They wouldn’t be a bad buy for Microsoft, even if I think there are better options. Though they’d have their work cut out for them resolving on-going sexual harassment problems at two major publishers.

I think Ubisoft games are over hated, I wouldn’t call them bad just they have been done to death and Ubisoft has a habbit of milking whatever sees success e.g. far cry, assassins creed and tom clancy. I feel similarly to CoD though being honest, I don’t think CoD is anywhere near as bad as some people like to make out. Ubisoft has major plus’s to being acquired though but IDK, I just don’t feel much towards them

I will love to see ubisoft going back to what they used to be, must of their games now looks similar and generic to be honest, but titles like inmortals or mario + rabbids still gives me hope in them, imagine if they let those developers work in the games that they want instead of the next assasins creeds or farcry, because so far I dont see those franchises getting any better, the teams arent hearing what people wants in those open world titles, they took the wrong message with zelda botw, and now they will do it again with elden ring

That’s fair, I feel like their games are fast food to me - even if they’re flawed (Pretty good, but flawed) I still just have fun with them. I’m playing through Far Cry 6 with the free weekend and having realised there’s no way I’m getting it finished by the end of the weekend I’ve ended up buying it. The bastards and their free weekend specifically designed to tempt people into buying it.

Ubisoft games are just familiar comfort games with beautiful scenery. I especially love Far Cry. What I hate about them is the mediocre polish, ridiculous and worthless monetization, and the extra bloated content.

Ubisoft used to be the gold standards and industry leaders imo. They had the innovation, variety, quality, and efficiency that maybe only EA could match back then. Until the PS4/XB1 generation where they mostly just focused on what works and milked it.

However I still believe they the have the capacity to be a great standard again; their talent and technology and IP IF they wanted and were willing to make those investments, or that could happen when someone serious acquire them.

If Microsoft gets another publisher I’d rather them get one that’s in a good state like how Bethesda was rather than one in their decline like Ubisoft. Because even though the Activision/Blizzard acquisition will be great for Microsoft it doesn’t mean things are going to instantly get better. The whole culture at Activison/Blizzard needs to change which take years to do.

I agree dealing with Activision and another troubled publisher at the same time would be too much. They need to buy publisher that can manage its own affairs next which imo will probably be Sega.

They benefit the most from working with each other, they will have more presence on pc, some famous jrpgs to enter japan, a extensive catalog of classics for gamepass

I just want to see sega going back to do a ton of weird and wonderful stuff without worrying on profits

I don’t mind the live service stuff depending on what it is. For example, Avatar is current generation only because they will continue adding to the game for years instead of creating a new game which is fine by me. AC is great for what it currently is. I just want to see more Origins/Odyssey in terms of gameplay/combat/skill trees, etc. because Valhalla doesn’t feel good to play at all and this is coming from an AC fan that loved Origins/Odyssey.

Regarding the games being good, I can say that most are at least good if not great. For last generation, I completed 20 Ubisoft games. 7 of them were 9/10 or higher. 7 of them were 8 or 8.5. 6 of them were under an 8. Overall, pretty damn good. But this generation, WD Legion, AC Valhalla and FC 6 were all an 8/10 which is great but for me personally, disappointing because I was expecting higher especially with AC Valhalla as Origins/Odyssey were in my top 10 for last gen. Only Immortals hit my 9/10 rating because I see it as the far superior game especially in terms of combat and gameplay. My main issue is that they seem to be chasing free to play/mobile garbage with the hopes of a few of them sticking and it’s like, why not just do what you’re already great and known for instead?

Future wise, im confident on a few games but there’s a few like Skull & Bones that seems to be an online only MP game like Sea of Thieves which is not what I have been hoping for since Black Flag. I can’t even fathom how Ubisoft can screw this up when BF/Rogue already gives you the blueprint for a pirate game. I just don’t get it. With Microsoft, since they have Sea of Thieves, would they really want another online MP game that’s very similar to it? Probably not so maybe getting a single player Skull & Bones would have a greater chance at happening.

Either way, main reason I even mentioned Ubisoft is because they’re still my favorite so I would get every game day one in Game Pass and second, they said they could be sold for the right offer after their last fiscal quarter report.

I’m one of the few that loved the old setup of Far Cry 3/4. I want to climb the tower and clear the map of fog while putting points of interest on it because walking/driving around a massive open world to defog it is so fucking boring and time consuming. Give me a tower for each region and two minutes later, done. I also miss the hunting and everything from FC 3/4.

I love Immortals (hoping they don’t fuck up the sequel) and Kingdom Battle. Hell, I bought Switch so I could play Kingdom Battle. I wish FC would go back to what it was but I know it won’t. AC Origins/Odyssey are great but Valhalla is just too much. It’s too freaking big plus the combat/gameplay is a few steps down compared to Origins/Odyssey.

I don’t want their games to be like BOTW or Elden Ring. Hell no. I don’t want to explore a massive open world and having to look for every single thing. I also want their stories and characters to be better which doesn’t exist in BOTW/Elden Ring. Oh man. I really hope Ubisoft doesn’t follow or try to copy Elden Ring.

I think there will be people who like the BOTW and Elden ring set up for open worlds and thats good but more people will like the ubisoft formula. Thats evident by the sales of thier games . Both are good and good for certain people

I was mostly talking about how they build their open world games, taking the best of those games, afterall botw was inspired by the ubisoft formula aswell other games

Is like that meme that appear on twitter some days ago, their games takes your hand most of the time

Agreed. I’m not a BOTW/Souls guy so that definitely wouldn’t be for me.

Oh, okay. Gotcha.
