It’s the same for me and I’m a JRPG nut. All I get out of Square is Nier (which has had a grand total of 2.5 games in 12 years) and Dragon Quest (which isn’t even entirely owned by Square so I would question if this would even become Xbox exclusive). I enjoy their Switch exclusive budget JRPGs like Octopath and Bravely but they’re like 7/10 games I could live without too.
Final Fantasy seems like it hasn’t had it’s spark in like 20 years besides the MMOs which don’t interest me. I’m not even bothered by FFXVI skipping Xbox.
Once again getting Sega and reviving games like Skies of Arcadia or Panzer Dragoon (Saga style JRPG) sounds 1000% better. Or even just acquiring a studio and making a new IP sounds better.

You know what’s weird? Because Microsoft buys publishers who had current issues, SQE wouldn’t be even impossible to think about, I think they had not so good year on financials thanks to Avengers flopping. SUPPOSEDLY, Final Fantasy VII Remake didn’t set the world on fire at long term sales, apparently it still had to catch FFXV.

Buying Capcom is definitely the play if Sega continues to hold out after Xbox/cloud breaks into the market.

WB Games next for me to be honest i don’t really care for the Japanese games anymore i like FF but since Playstation moneyhat that this whole generation ive been over FF games now.

Obviously, it skipped Xbox and launched on PC later, many people are not stupid nor eager to bend the knee with SE bullshits. I am one of those people who bought FFXV and will NEVER buy FF7R, even if lands on Xbox, only through GP at this point.
Curious: Is this because you don’t want to play it or some sort of “moral” stance? If it’s the latter, I’d suggest you reconsider as it’s a great game and worth a purchase.
Moral stance, I’m sick and tired of SE bullshits, also they already stated I’m worthless as a customer, so no big deal (I have several FF). Also it will be old news once (if) on Xbox and it will cost an absurd amount of money for an old game, I can alrrady see it.

There are so many games nowadays…if a game skips a platform for these kind of bullshits, it’s never been so simple to move on. I sold my PS4 in 2017 when I got the One X, since then I am unable to play new (or not, like FF14) FF games (my pc is crap), I can go on with my life, but it annoys me greatly, because it’s clearly an intentional scummy move, the games made a bunch of money on Xbox.

People love to complain about monopolies and anti-trust, but they will happily contribute to monopolies. It is really just fanboyism or naivety especially in the smartphone market with Google and Apple.

cyberconnect2, dimps, eighting, tri-ace (i know some mobile company already owns them), and koei tecmo seem (big one) seem “reasonable” for japanese acquisitions.
sega has an excellent relationship ms, but i don’t see them selling.
I am in the same boat. I loved the original FF7 and even though I have a Ps4 and a PC, I refuse to buy the remake because I can’t play it on my Xbox. Even if it does finally come to Xbox, I am over SE and PS doing this. If I ever do buy the game, it will be used after the entire game is out on Xbox or gamepass.

Travelers tales would fit right into the beenox/toys for bob/VV mold. Hopefully wb games sits tight while Microsoft gets this deal done.
