IF Microsoft were to acquire EA they would 100% want to keep FIFA multi-platform anyway. It’s entirely consistent with how they are treating Minecraft and Call of Duty. They’d do the same thing with GTA if they acquired Take Two. They aren’t looking to make any of these mega-franchises exclusive, just make Xbox/Gamepass the best place for people who play them.
EA is their next target imo. Get those gamepass subs sky high before showing Japanese pubs “look at these 50 million gamepass subs. Are you sure you want to miss out? It’s up to you.”
I do wonder if MS are worried about mimicking PS but it would be nice if Xbox made just a few of these cinematic games.
Hellblade looks fantastic but IMO they need a more casual appealing IP in this area. They really should be jumping on That’s No Moon but no doubt PS will moneyhat them and make them exclusive.
As I mentioned in the other thread Skydance Media’s new Marvel game also has ridiculous potential (more than Spiderman and Wolverine IMO).
Do we know the name of Shannon and/or Bruce’s studio yet? (had a quick look but couldn’t find anything).
I feel like EA is unlikely anytime soon, if ever. They’ve been working in their own streaming service for a while and they’re already in Game Pass and on PlayStation. They also recently said they want to be the ones acquiring studios.
If there is one big target on the Xbox team’s collective mind it has to be TakeTwo, followed by Capcom. Getting the likes of GTA, RDR, and Monster Hunter all on Game Pass is the game subscription and streaming wars over the next decade all sewn up.
EA is like Microsoft’s little brother though. They’ve always had a great relationship and EA would finally start delaying unfinished games. Take two and capcom are more likely(lol) imo so it makes sense if they go that direction. It’s just Microsoft going to the grocery store and picking between some items. They’re gonna get them all eventually if the rest of big tech stays out and more start up companies continue to make big hits like among us and grows the market.
You really give a lot of credit to new studios with veteran leads. We don’t even know what character that Marvel game is. More potential than Spiderman and Wolverine?
We don’t but we are given the impression it’s a ‘Naughty Dog’ style game based on Marvel.
As much as I love Insomniac this excites me more than the open world type games which are becoming the new ‘norm’.
With Amy Hennig (Uncharted & Kain) it has soooo much potential.
PS: I am still highly anticipating Wolverine, more so than GoW2 or any of the other PS titles
Are we really moving on to EA or bust now?
I will be shocked if wolverine is open world i think it will be similar to god of war
Do you guys think that the acquisition will be complete sooner after the statements that microsoft made yesterday?
Wolverine doesn’t have the benefit of an awesome traversal mechanic to make an open world enjoyable lol
God I sure hope so.
That’s the idea and let’s hope so. We really need to clear this mess.
Hope so, i would rather this not drag on until march of next year. I’m going to be an optimist and say it will finish before the end of 2022.
Well he does have a motorcycle and he can climb practically anywhere with his claws
Me to, and isnt because I want to see more adquisitions soon, but instead to be sure that the buyout of abk isnt going to be stopped, hopefully it will go well
yeah i know this but how many years left in Apex ? we are talking about biggest here which their football game. this game would stay alive for many years to come.
FIFA have been in business more than 20 years that is the difference.
I mean they still can buy now especially after multiplatform statement.
Not yet and from everything (rumors) I’ve heard online Shannon’s is farther along.
