Xbox Acquisition |OT5| Talking Exclusively About Xbox Acquisitions

With Prog being banned I guess this means MS will buy another gaming company if not tomorrow very soon.

I wonder what company that could be? It most likely will be someone unexpected, so watch it be the game company Treasure. They haven’t released many games recently, so they definitely fall under unexpected.

All these acquisitions and potential pick ups are really exciting. It’s such a shame we won’t see the full effects of all these acquisitions until like 5-10 years from now when all the Xbox studios have finally shown off what they can do.

It sucks getting old and seeing that the best is yet to come and you’ll most likely miss out on the really crazy things. Like imagine a hundred years from now how crazy everything will be with Nintendo, Xbox, and PS maybe even turning into something completely new.

I am with you I am more excited for studio purchases at this point. The precedent has been set and I think it is partly due to the new changes by the FTC… They are going after big tech companies just because they are big tech companies no matter if Xbox is in 3rd place.

It is ironic no one cared or intervened when Sony almost put Xbox out of business last gen but now that Xbox is actually competing there are all these roadblocks (FTC, media concern, hypocritical expectations).

However, single studios should still be able to be folded into XGS and make exclusives. I still think CD, IOI and NetherRealm could have big impacts for Xbox. Those are some top-notch studios and hopefully MS will actually pump $$ into XGS/Zenimax to drastically grow those studios. I just hope they don’t become an afterthought to MS in favor of the multi-plat publishers they acquire.

I still appreciate free stuff on gamepass but it doesn’t hit the same way exclusives do…

I agree Hellblade is their only big cinematic adventure game but I’m not sure it has as much casual appeal as something like Uncharted for example.

This is why I think they should do a partnership with That’s No Moon Studio and Skydance New Media (Ex-Naughty Dog) before PS ends up moneyhatting them!

I also wouldn’t be surprised if Blizzard create their own new MOBA as they make so much money (or release HOTS2).

idk this market dominated by league and Dota 2 still have it’s share.

it’s too late for that. that would be waste of money and time.

He was interested in Indiana Jones, but he might not be interested in LoTR. Amazon should buy it and make another MMO based on LoTR.

WB is next. Calling it.

We are already waiting for Fallout to release in 2029.

I expect studios like Crystal Dynamics, Asobo, IOI for exclusive content now.

Forgotten Empires and Skybox Labs are next. Both are already involved with Xbox and should be solid acquisition targets.

I am personally on the fence for this one. If Microsoft doesn’t grab DC IPs (gaming) only Netherealm makes sense there (and even then knowing that WB is planning to make another Mortal Kombat) with Mortal Kombat IP. For some reasons other WB studios did not produce much over 5+ years which is very odd.

Capcom and T2 are the best options Microsoft should go for. They are certainly aiming for acquisitions that provide a lot of IPs (ATVI was an incredible opportunity for them). Capcom has a huge set of big IPs (unlike Sega a lot of them are active). And even their GaaS game Monster Hunter can be made “available” on other platforms. T2 is also good with their GTA Online or NBA that can be made “available” and a lot of other IPs they have can be made exclusive.

Sega feels like Bungie for me. For karma, they are good but for value - not so much. (Sega is very cheap though)

Sega is more like the anti-Bungie. They’re super loaded with IP and have a ton of diverse studios that specialize in genres that Xbox 1st parties are not strong in.

Sega is loaded with IPs but they do nothing with them and do they even have enough studios to make those games? Like there is Sonic Team, there is Virtua Fighter team, there is western part (with strategy games and another FPS, and Football manager). What other teams are there?

I compare them to Bungie because Bungie acquisition would “feel” right but that’s it.

Now that I think about it, one thing that Microsoft can benefit from Ubisoft is a the large workforce as Microsoft a lot of IPs but no teams to work on them - and it seems like their own team prefer to work on new IPs rather than reviving the old ones.

I believe Sega has Relic, Creative Assembly, Two Point Studios, Hardlight, Atlus, Sports Interactive, RGG, and Sonic Team.

Atlus is a such odd thing that I would not be surprised that after the acquisition of Sega, we would still not see Persona on Xbox. I suspect the contract freedom that Atlus has will be preserved even after the acquisition.

Also from the list of those studios, I don’t see any of them working of old Sega’s IPs.

That’s kind of the beauty in the potential though, right? Lots of room to grow and expand. They aren’t near their ceiling.

Although I have said EA over Take Two before I am doing a complete 180. Take Two should be the priority because you can get GTA6 to be subscription exclusive to Gamepass.

If sub services become very popular then NBA, NFL, MLB etc will want these franchises on all services so they can be played by as many people as possible. So Game Pass and Spartacus for the sports games. Whereas GTA6 would just be on Gamepass or you can buy it at full price for PS5 or Xbox.

like i said yesterday they can swallow both. this is Whole MS entering the field and not xbox.

Microsoft doesn’t need EA - EA is too far into F2P and MTX stuff. But T2 would be good for some of its IPs.
