Xbox Acquisition |OT4| It's Acquisition Season for Xbox with $69 Billion deal, NICE!

Nah. If you mean PlayStation owners who mainly just play mainstream stuff like CoD, it’s not PS fanboysim why they’re buying PS, it’s just because it’s the “default” console. If they want CoD and find out it’s only on Xbox now, then they’ll just buy an Xbox.

I know. I haven’t met anyone who is that zealous to PS, but I’m pretty sure a person like that exists. (which is sad)

Wow I missed a Lot today.

Also wow in getting a really, really, big game company.

I’ll be honest though for me personally buying Activision Blizzard does nothing for me.

But I can see why Microsoft wanted AB, because they did say they wanted a company to make casual games and Call of Duty falls under that group.

I think EA or Take 2 would have been better, but clearly MS knows what they are doing.

I guess disappointingly this means buying both Sega and Warner Bros is off the table.

I also have to wonder if this also means smaller game studios like buying Larian or IO Interactive are now things that won’t happen.

I wouldn’t rule anyone off after this acquisition. Sega and Warner are pocket change compared to Activision/Blizzard.

Satya and Phil smelt weakness and ruthlessly exploited it.

I still really want IOI and JP Games, please.

Avalanche and Crytek are off my radar for sure now.

That is true, but do you expect MS to really buy another game publisher after just dropping 70 billion?

You possibly could get both Sega and WB for 12 to 15 billion, but I I just have to wonder if they would do that.

I personally think they should, to get into the Japanese market and to be able to sell DC games. Just imagine what MS could do with Superman or a Green Lantern RPG, that has elements of No Man’s Sky and is open world like what was originally shown for Bioware’s Anthem.

Sadly I think you’ll be right about Crytek & Avalanche.

I so would have enjoyed seeing what Crytek could have done with their engine under MS and what Avalanche could have done with their engine too, under MS.

I don’t see why not for Avalanche if MS sees value and they are available for sale

I can definitely see Microsoft acquiring another publisher or big studio in the next one or two years. This Activision acquisition is the irrefutable proof that Microsoft is all in on gaming. I don’t know if they will acquire Warner, Sega, Square, Take-Two or whoever but they will definitely acquire something big in this timeframe.

Fucking LOL

I mean yeah there is a deficiency. But it’s going to be a hard sell to the FTC to allow another acquisition on this scale. But weirder things have happened. Here’s hoping

Okay @Shpeshal_Nick no more c’mon xbox do something memes…

I’ll say this, it truly is a great time to be a gamer.

FTC my ass and regulation my ass. Acquisitions that are actually close to a monopoly have been allowed, this is nothing in comparison. The gaming industry is so big and competitive and still far away from consolidation let alone mOnOpOlY claims.

Also MS beefed up their legal team. I’m pretty sure they know how things work on a legal standpoint.

It’s going to pass legislation . If Sony is allowed an ACTUAL monopoly in the anime industry, then this doesn’t even compare.

We shouldn’t talk about what we think “should” happen because we think the system is fair (it ain’t of course) and instead see what the system has allowed so far, and it has allowed for far worse market consolidation and monopoly-like control. The gaming industry is a market where Apple, who don’t even make games, make some of the most revenue… They’re not gonna question Microsoft much.
