He is continuing his E rated games message with some small alterations. I love how consistent he has been in messaging. But it should be treated as more of the same.

Phil is smart at this game. This is my takeaway.

I changed my mind today. His comments yesterday were priming the pump to acquire Bungie and destiny. Big social community, casual appeal. Phil loves Destiny, he’s bringing it on board.

Couldnt think of a bigger waste of money than Bungie other than cd projekt red tbh lol.

Both would be great additions

Think Niantic, MercurySteam, Sega.

Based on what? Bungie would be a good addition in theory due to the gigantic community they have but other than that eh.

CD Projekt red a colossal waste of money(not doubting what could be the quality of games).

Bungie is not what I think of when I think casual.

Casual to me means thry want stuff like Fall Guy’s where a family can pick up and play for fun. Doesn’t require advanced tactics or high skill level, just fun.

I think he meant it as a joke until he got pushback.

I play none of those games, more like sims 4 a big truly casual game, no viokence or shared world either. A big bunch of gamers play the sims 4 or sim like games.

Yeah, all those games listed are the complete opposite of casual.

Hi Rez is an interesting one. They have notoriously struggled with bugs and polish. Smite and Paladins could both be significantly bigger with more resources. I think it’d be a very underrated acquisition.

Yeah, Deo always has very good posts imo

For me that list sounds pretty casual. People that I know that own a console but aren’t that deep into gaming, are basically playing exactly this games.

In my class it was always FIFA, COD and GTA.

Oh, I don’t doubt that it’s on a per-subscriber basis. Just that it’s lower than $1 and at some level that pays $100m on the high end.

I feel like we could maybe take a hard look at EA’s financial statements and get some kind of indication.

Being a popular game doesn’t make it casual. How is COD any different from Halo or Battlefield? It isn’t really.

Both are significantly different from Mario Party, Mario Kart, Fall Guys, Among Us and other games the casual audience can pick up and play.

Casual is not a pvp game which cod and gta are

COD is significantly different than those games because of how it’s treated in the marketplace. Everyone’s mom knows what cod is. People that don’t game know what cod is.

Phil related to those titles are things with broad casual and social appeal for a reason. He isn’t necessarily looking for some E rated thing like Nintendo has, just wants something with broad appeal and will hold a vast amount of the market.

Could it be similar to Nintendo, sure, but I also feel it’s unlikely given what’s out there. I think we need to look at other games with massive reach or potential for that.
