Competition is good for everyone. Sony are adding fantastic studios to their first party roster and so is Xbox. Some of the things I’m reading right now online is a mixture of ignorance, embarrassment and entitledness. It’s not a good look, lol

Didnt they say in Sacred Symbols that Xbox had to buy things because they are terrible at managing their own teams so whats the spin here? Buying due to success?

So it’s 21 for Sony and 23 for Microsoft. But Microsoft have more studios so they are closer to a monopoly. 
Those two would be my guess as well

No one said it isn’t, and I wouldn’t label all of them as fantastic but that’s my personal opinion. What is true is that any time there’s a Sony acquisition, there is an overwhelming amount of cultists that belittle their competition and the FUD spreads to this forum because people tend to not retain the perspective of the difference of those acquisitions and the effect they have directly on the consumer. Furthermore, what is perhaps most embarrassing is seeing the swath of media pundits, Twitter/YT personalities, and mods on other sites condemn any and all acquisitions and growth by Xbox whilst parading around any Sony acquisition as if it’s good for the business and consumers all the sudden. Say what you want, but Xbox is the only first-party publisher where acquisitions directly benefit all parties (MS, Studios, and consumers) due to Game Pass.

For accuracy, Microsoft has a considerable amount more teams/projects than Sony still, as the majority of Sony studios are single-project studios, whereas Microsoft have nearly 40 teams working on separate projects (Obsidian has at least five alone).

Of course it’s joking around. I think most regulars in this thread do this all the time, we are having fun with the stupid pre-E3 rumours and that it looks funny when everyone but MS is announcing acquisitions left and right. We all know that things take time, and that MS have bought a shitload of studios recently. Do we really have to state the obvious all the time?

It’s 16 on PlayStation Studios official website. 17 now that they have Bluepoint.
When you look at acquisitions you have to look at the context and does this move the needle.
Sony have acquired 4 studios. HouseMarque and Bluepoint were essentially First Party studios without the label as they were tied to Playstation for decades with Sony’s funding. FireSprite is interesting and they have a lot of devs but Sony is basically re-acquiring a team they let go. Nixxes is just a port studio and no one will ever hear from them again. When you look at the full picture, these moves basically do not do anything but assure they’ll remain tied to Sony. No more or less games exclusive games will come out of this move as they were already making games for them anyways.
So when I see people online act like Sony is “loading up”, I have to seriously wonder what they’re talking about lol.

Was the biggest gaming deal…their next one will be bigger lol…also with satya all in for gaming and not just the ceo but the head of the board lol xbox app in windows 11, etc…ican imagine more talks happening. The might even have devs knocking at the door lol…

Sony are much closer to SE than Microsoft.
Crystal Dynamics and Eidos-Montreal both fit their portfolio better given their movie business.
MS should get proactive with SE.
