Not sure why we keep talking about an Avalnche acquisition since they already said it was a mistake on their source who mistook the xbox publishing logo.
Would love for it to go through, but yea cant see it
Or they can get paid based on the potential those games have without actually having done anything yet.
Selling now is guaranteed money, and for a lot of these companies the founders are already going to be different color Ferrari for every day of the week rich so holding out for more is a risk. What if your next game flops? What if you Cyberpunk 2077 yourself? Piles of cash now means start picking out what color Ferrari you want. Hard to turn down life changing money when Phil Spencer is calling and asking how many zeros you want on the check.
I hope there is some fire for all this smoke we’re seeing and it’s not just bs trolling. I’m getting excited. I know to some it’s weird to get excited for what some giant corporations do but if MS buys a studio I get that game for “free” on games pass. If Sony buys a studio I’ll have to pay $70 for their games. If Nintendo buys a studio I’ll have pay $60 for their games 5 years after they release.
Correct. A strong form (or semi-strong) market will move on release of news/project announcements. Only a weak form market moves on final results.
@Sikamikanico If tomorrow isn’t tectonic…
Me when Xbox announces they acquired 5 studios on Tectonic Tuesday
I really don’t know why people think Techland would not be a good choice. I think they’ll be perfect for Xbox family and Gamepass. And i Guess they already are under the Xbox umbrella. why? Do you Remember when many rumors said about financial problems, messy development, Chris avalone etc? What happened from those rumors?
Techland showed many good gameplay trailers, the game seems in very good form, and they are going to release very Rich collector editions.
So, this means :Money, Money, Money…And there were many rumors about Techland acquisition. Yes, Techland PR said: we are indipendente!! But what Bluepoint said some days ago? The same thing: we are and indipendent studio!! But all of us know they’ve been bought by Sony.
So, Techland Is a thing, for me…
Dying Light 2 Will be multiplatform with a gamepass launch but their Next project (medieval RPG) could be Xbox exclusive
@Shpeshal_Nick Are these good argumentations?
Netherrealm acquisition with MK Ip would cause the most of meltdowns, another one would be SEGA.
Netherealm shouldn’t cause any controversy, given that Sony has money-hatted multiple fighting game franchises as exclusives over the past generation. Street Fighter, King of Fighters, Blazblue, Guilty Gear, now Virtua Fighter.
Any Sony fan claiming that it is outrageous if MS secures one fighting game as an exclusive doesn’t have a leg to stand on. It almost seems like the lack of a response from MS would be more controversial.
I don’t think anything is happening this week. Sony clearly has more studio acquisitions to announce with Bluepoint and whoever (and maybe an event), so Xbox will probably wait for things to settle to really emphasize the next acquisitions.

Yep, agree. Both MS and Sony like to ‘own the news’ rather than battle for it. If MS has something to announce, I agree that they will wait for Sony to settle down first and then take over the conversation.
…nd Gamepass. And i Guess they already are under the Xbox umbrella. why? Do you Remember when many rumors said about financial problems, messy development, Chris avalone etc? Lol
Yeah I think buying a studio their last game has sold more then 17 million copies is not a good choice .
Techland is a wonderful studio with good talents , And If Microsoft ends up acquiring them It will be a good thing cause it will give Microsoft a foothold for the first time in Poland, especially as it contains great and talented developers, and this will give xbox an opportunity to grow and expand its operations in the future.
Was the management of the studio not good During the past years? Sure
And this is something that happens in many studios and Microsoft can change the existing bad culture and change some of the leaders in the studio to improve the work environment . And everyone should remember that the developers have no fault in what happens inside the studio
It’s not complicated thing
If you have a talented development team and bad management, believe me a talented team will not be able to do anything great because of the bad work environment
And if you have a weak development team with great management, they will make great things because of the good and encouraging work environment to learn new things and develop yourself
Today’s forecast: Cloudy with a chance of acquisitions.
Not sure if they are an insider or not, but he’s saying one of them is the studio behind life is strange. Not sure if he refers to deck nine or dontnod.

I would guess Dontnod, since they’ve worked with Xbox for Tell Me Why. But at the same time, Tencent did invest in them, so I dunno.

To play devil’s advocate, it was only a minority stake which shouldn’t affect the decision of whether they sell or not. Having said that, they are a publicly traded company so it would be against the trend of prior acquisitions. Something notable, they did get a 6% jump today .
Tencent’s purchase is part of a total €40 million capital increase that comes by way of an accelerated bookbinding process, according to Dontnod. The studio also announced a, “concurrent signing of a business cooperation agreement with Tencent” as well.

Don’t hold your breath on Dontnod happening any time soon.

Dontnod is also a public company. I know Xbox can wade into those waters but I really don’t think Dontnod is the company that they would be willing to do that for.
I don’t expect a Dontnod or Deck Nine acquisition.
