Plus Sega has a strong PC focus for most of their titles (barring Persona 5 of course, but Persona 4 Golden did boffo on Steam), another thing to strongly consider.
They make the Total War Series which has been a PC staple for decades.

Cheers. I aprecciate that.
I was never so happy to know that SEGA is close to Microsoft and that it could become part of XBGS.
Capcom mistreats its ips a lot, has franchise really discontinued for no apparent reason. I can’t imagine MS is looking for Capcom. I can imagine SF6 in the gamepass so.
You will find quite a few Sega fans here as well. And it is true - Sega has always been close to MS.
There were reports in 2018 about Capcom before MH and RE. So, it will always be in the conversation.
And Square has a hidden relationship with MS strangely.
So, the three are always being discussed.
If SEGA has a budget $$ as MS’s, SEGA can remaster games that are in limbo simply to fill the gamepass catalog and save time with other games that would take years. And I already waited a lot, it’s time for Shadow The Hedgehog, Sonic Riders / Zero Gravity, Sonic Heroes to have something even in HD or Remastered. That the case of Sonic Adventure 2 on XBOArcade, for example.
It was intentional.
It’s good to know that I’m going to find partners who love Sega here.
It is really unknown, everyone has become targets mainly in Japanese territory. I’m only mad at Bandai Namco if a target. I wanted her to stop being a bull and make the doors to the Saint Seiya games. I don’t know what happens so that these games never made it to the Xbox.
Capcom grew thanks to MHW it self, I agree with that. SF5 caused a lot of damage to them. After arriving Marvel Vs Capcom Infinite. To tear apart.
Square Enix would be something similar to SEGA, however, it would be very bureaucratic and they would have to respect the agreement that is behind with Sony.
Yep. Their strength with very good PC centric studios, brand awareness in regions Microsoft has no presence and family friendly IPs that could be revived on Game Pass make them a great fit for Xbox.
honestly, the part of Sega being sold off that still doesn’t add up to me, is the notion of selling what is currently the most profitable aspect of your entire business Pachinko isn’t doing hot in Japan, so idk. In general I think a lot of the Japanese publishers just have baggage that makes the notion of anyone acquiring them questionable.
Square Enix’s heavy investment in mobile is basically the reason why I think Sony wouldn’t buy them, even if they had the money to. Microsoft bought Bethesda who has mobile devs so I guess it wouldn’t be an issue for them, but Square seems far deeper into the mobile rabbithole than Bethesda is.
the only wild card I think with Sega is that the CEO of Sammy Hajime Satomi, is coming up on 80 years old and I think there is a scenario where he just wants to sell and retire. If that means sell the entire company (Sammy included) or not, idk, but honestly I’d wonder what the fuck MS would do with Sammy if they did buy them for Sega, and now just have a dying pachinko business on their hands.
Has Crapgamer made a video about a Sega by playstation yet so we can confirm Microsoft will buy them
As a fellow Saint Seiya fan, I totally agree with you. Want the bronze boys on xbox .
Regarding Capcom fighting games, another blow they took was Yoshinori Ono leaving the company last year after almost 30 years. With MHW being a big hit, the producer of the game won a lot of space and trust from capcom, making the fighting games division smaller.
It makes me wonder if Microsoft’s competitor in bidding for SEGA is a Tencent. It seems that Tencent always tries to stop some very tactical movement from Microsoft when it is close to being done. I remember what happened at Platinum and came up with this hypothesis
Sony is actually big in mobile gaming, just not via SCE.
Sony Music Entertainment Japan’s label “Aniplex” publishes a variety of mobile games. The largest is Fate/Grand Order, which grossed 4 billion USD in revenue in 4 years. It’s an enormous game.
tencent has no chance of acquiring someone like SEGA because all of those laws people talk about Japan having against foreign companies acquiring companies in Japan are intended to stop Chinese companies from buying japanese ones. Sure thats not how the law is written, but it is how it is applied.
I dont think Platinum would have ever sold to microsoft tbh, they didnt have a great experience with them while they were developing scalebound, so if I were them I wouldnt do it. Some investment from tencent for a minority stake though? Why not?
yeah, this is true, but if we’re talking specifically about it being a Playstation acquisition, I don’t think it being mobile centric necessarily makes it more likely, just because Aniplex does mobile games.
you could argue it’s moot just because a Playstation acquisition is a Sony acquisition by association and Sony could do something with that, but who knows.
As long as the Playstation division can moneyhat Square’s games as easily as they have thus far this gen, I’d put an acquisition of SE by them unlikely, personally.
It was a shame not to have Captain Tsubasa on the Xbox, they just skipped the Xbox anyway. Saint Seiya is a serious thing that I would love to see on Xbox.
Going back to Capcom, what was done with Mega Man X, Rival Schools and Dark Stalkers was unforgivable.
I think Platinum is weird, they always pressure Microsoft to make Scalebound, but Microsoft always cuts the ties. So it’s going to be Microsoft. If the rumor appeared on Sony’s side, we already know how it ends.
That’s a gross misrepresentation of what happened with Scalebound and Platinum. Maybe you should be asking why Bayonetta 3 still hasn’t been released, or even seen, despite being announced in 2017.
If Microsoft comes to an agreement to buy only the gaming division for the amount that Sammy is currently worth, I don’t think it would refuse. But I wonder if Phil would bet on that option. Paying 6 billion for a smaller conglomerate than Zenimax is a bit psychotic.
