Is that due to publishing deals or something they could get out of?
Publishing deals with Square and Epic I think. Could be wrong on the latter.
While I agree they’re talented, the big issue is that they’re just about to go public. It’d be strange for Microsoft to wait all this time just to try getting them immediately after leaving private game development.
Yeah i stated multiple times that People Can Fly would be an awesome pick up, hopefully Phil and Sayta start looking at public companies.
Xbox should try to get whatever best remake/remaster studios there are available and start remaking old classics for some easy sales/hype. Get out remakes of fallout NV, ES, multiple Rare games, Gears, just whatever people are craving for. Would be a good way to complement new releases too.
This is such a good point. It actually needs its own OT thread.
I’m enjoying the gameplay a lot in Outriders. But boy, the dialogue sucks. Your character in every cutscene always has to be the cool guy, I effected by the chaos around him. And the supporting cast are way too big of assholes too.
So their writing needs help. But the make games that play great, which is what is most important.
I feel bad for Frogwares. A stable, sensical publisher is what they need. I feel like they could be a good pickup for MS for reasons I’ve stated earlier.
100% agree.
Hard agree. I loved The Sinking City, despite its flaws.
Hope Nacon doesn’t screw up Spiders who they acquired a while back as im very interested in Steel Rising.
Was bummed out after I beat Greedfall and they told me Spiders had been bought smh.
Yeah, as was I. Spiders is a team that’s only gotten better with each new project. Seeing what they could do with an Xbox level budget would have been amazing. Hopefully Nacon will treat them well.
Only real problem with Greedfall was the screen tearing cause the rest was as good as I could had expected for a AA game. I know some people complain about the ending but I liked it.
Yeah, I really enjoyed GreedFall. Had it’s issues but it’s still a great action RPG. Was hoping that Focus Home Interactive was going to acquire them but it didn’t happen. Hopefully, Nacon doesn’t screw up Steel Rising and Spiders. A great AA action RPG studio that have gotten better with every game.
To be honest, I think if Microsoft locks down a Kojima game for the Xbox ecosystem then I think that’s gonna be the most telling thing that Microsoft isn’t fucking around in Japan anymore.
Getting Kojima on your platform is a big deal, and honestly considering that I imagine Kojima had to negotiate with Sony that they’d allow Death Stranding to launch on PC, I feel like a deal with Microsoft would be one that’s much easier for him, since his game launching on PC (windows 10/steam) would not be something he’d have to negotiate with MS for, it would just be implied I imagine.
At this point “perfect for gamepass” is honestly a bit of a meme in my mind, but Kojima’s games atm feel like a perfect example of something that’s so weird and quirky, and something that people would be interested in, but the retail model got in the way of people being open to try it.
“Death Stranding looks interesting…but I’ll wait on a price drop” or “Death Stranding look cool…but at 60 dollars is kinda risky” was a insanely common sentiment I saw in the circles I usually hang out in regarding DS.
I’m extremely extremely skeptical, of an acquisition for Kojima Productions (at least at this moment), just because I largely think what happened at Konami is still a bit of a scar that hasn’t healed yet for Kojima. I think given very favorable terms though, Microsoft could have Kojima sign onto a 3 game deal, and perhaps once that deal ends re-evaluate the possibility of acquisition.
I think Kojima with the content he makes, and just how out there they are, they would honestly be a perfect fit for gamepass, and would work very well with the microsoft strategy for gamepass and such. Kojima would honestly just be a megaton for Microsoft in terms of just showcasing their commitment to Japanese content on the platform, and I think it would change the discourse surrounding the Xbox situation in Japan quite a bit.
Kojima’s games might even be a really good game to prove if Xcloud can be successful in Japan or not.
Big get for Epic
