If you are part of the COD community, you would know that MW3 despite what games media labeled it is better received than MW2 because of how great the movement in multiplayer/Warzone is, the best since MW 2019. People who keep saying they are getting worse don’t know what they are talking about. Yes it did go downhill for a bit, but it’s back on an upward trend again, especially since Treyarch is doing the next one( probably more beloved nowadays compared to Infinity Ward).
People has been saying COD is dying for years now and yet people still buy it in droves with a 70 dollar price tag even at its worse. It consistently rank number 1 or 2 best selling game every year.
Fair enough, this game was the first one I haven’t purchased since the original. I just thought people would get smarter and not pay every year for a 5% character_controller change and a new map pack. I’d rather push back than keep giving them money. Maybe I am just getting too old now. I thought overall it was reviewed quite a bit lower including this site. Maybe I was wrong.
No offense, but reading your posts it sounds like you are a younger person and are having a very hard time seeing that your view on things doesn’t represent the view that others will have.
The trick with good debate is to not speak in absolutes. You can have an opinion, and it can be just as valid as another. I agree that COS is not as high a quality as it once was, but also this year’s is the first one to have a 4 year dev time. So perhaps it will improve again!
MW2 was one of the highest selling games of 2023 despite everything iv read online about it makes it sound like the multiplayer was very hated with the community and MW3 despite being made in only 16 months and basically being MW2 OG remastered, has had better engagement than MW2
The series is a monster, it coming to Switch(2) and GP is only going to make it even bigger and you really can’t compare something like this to CS
CS is a monster as well don’t get me wrong, it’s huge on steam but CoD is always far bigger on console than PC, not to mention CS is one ongoing game while CoD has a new game every year, comparing longevity doesn’t make sense
They charge every other year for a game that doesn’t change substantially. Games that compete and do better are free and review higher. They also continue to hold players for longer. I don’t care about sales figures. That doesn’t prove a game is great. That is like saying taylor swift is a better musician than Jimi Hendrix.
The best case scenario would be 8 yearly releases, 1 AA and 1 AAA each quarter, like PS and Nintendo mostly do since years (also through bought exclusives).
Concerning 2024:
Ara
Avowed
COD
Flight Sim '24
Hellblade 2
Indiana Jones
Towerborne
Surprise (likely an AA)
It would be a spectacular year, with a mix of everything genre-wise and budget-wise.
