Had the feeling HD2 was bigger in PC than console, seems I was right. I think PC will end up having the majority of the sales of the game LTD.

PC is the biggest platform, that’s honestly not surprising. Other Sony games sell bad there because they don’t t release day 1, while Helldivers 2 did and is quite cheap to buy as well.

If they start releasing games day 1 they’ll somewhat cannibalise like what happened to Xbox, but sales would go up a lot imo for their first party games.

50m is wild, at this point, your company not targeting mobile is self sabotage

I have the feeling future generations of gamers will migrate to mobile and PC. It is anecdotal but I have a 10 years old cousin who, eventhough he’s a spider man fan, wants to buy a PC because he’s favorite streamer plays dead by dayligh on it and also plays stumble guys on her mother’s cellphone (he tells me everyone on his class play stumble gus).

I think people are not paying attention to the amount of influence twitch and platformas like that have over the ā€œcasualā€ crowd and all of those big streamers play on PC . Thats the big reason why Helldivers 2 exploded.

Until Microsoft pull an ET crash level, it’s safe to say the platform is safe.

Yep twitch blowing up I feel has had a major impact on the popularity of PC

Pretty much every major streamer out there is on PC these days and when your fans see the things they do and say, of course it’s going to influence them

As for mobile, mobile isn’t going to slow down, everyone has a phone these days even if it’s not for gaming and they will only continue to get stronger and more efficient

and at some point scaling tech will get good enough that a phone version isn’t really that far of a console version and at that point if you already have a powerful phone that could play games, the whole console appeal kind of goes down

We are already seeing traditional consoles starting the head the way of portability with the Switch and Steam Deck, that’s only going to increase

Yup. This is one of the most important games launch from Microsoft this year. Guess what … none of the social media console war participants are talking about it. Thats an indicator that whatever they’re talking about is out of touch with reality.

Mobile games have always done huge numbers, even last gen, this is nothing new. Traditional gamers just don’t talk about mobile games because the audiences are completely different.

I think the difference is now the big companies and publishers are starting to take it seriously unlike last gen

Sony and MS realise that it’s an area they need to pursue

Sure but I don’t think that means people who don’t care about mobile games should suddenly care about it.

Mobile gamers certainly don’t care about Elden Ring, BG3, Avowed, etc etc of the worlds.

They should when they’re speaking specifically about what gaming company is dead and what gaming company is alive or winning. That was the point I made that maybe you didn’t notice. I wasn’t talking about gamers, I was talking about the online warriors. You were the one who said gamers when I never said gamers. The online warriors are intentionally being ignorant and burrying their head in a hole because it doesnt fit their narratives.

Sure but your statement applies to the vast majority of traditional gamers as well.

COD Mobile Warzone is going make more money than all of the first party games Xbox releases this year combined, yet the overwhelming discussion in this thread will be about the health of gamepass and hardware.

Does that make everyone in here intentionally ignorant ? I don’t believe so, I believe it just means they view hardware and mobile as 2 separate platforms even if Microsoft owns both.

Lol I’m just hoping with the wild success of CoD Mobile doesn’t lead to phones becoming a dominant platform.

I’m getting old and I don’t want to have to use magnifying glasses to play! :stuck_out_tongue:

(Tongue in cheek btw, I know consoles are here for ages and I’ll go along with whatever happens, before anyone thinks I’m serious!)

True but the more that these companies start pursuing mobile the more it may start to effect the console side in different ways

They’re already the dominant platform.

:face_with_open_eyes_and_hand_over_mouth:

Agreed. Whether that’s a positive or negative in the long term, we’ll have to see.

Lol I’d be so screwed if they fully took over, I see both my parents with phones bigger than mine but their text size is set so large only 5 words at a time of a text message can be read.

And to do so they still hold it about 4 foot from their face.

Hopefully they’ll sort ā€œcast to TVā€ from phones (it generally sucks a bit atm) before I reach their age lol

Yeah, it kind of does if they’re willfully ignoring the reality when talking about gaming business.
