I literally bought my Series X for Starfield. As in, remember when Microsoft announced the Bethesda Acquisition the day before the the Series X/S preorders went live? That is what swayed me. Bethesda have been my favourite developers since Oblivion back in 2006, and I couldn’t picture a future without having access to their games. I knew at that point that Starfield would be Xbox exclusive, even though they wouldn’t announce it as such for another 2 years. If I had known back then that by “exclusive” they meant timed, I would have just gotten a PS5 instead and picked it up a year later after I finished playing all of their great exclusives that will never come to Xbox. I don’t just feel ‘betrayed’ I actually feel like I was sold my Xbox on a lie. Like it actually feels like borderline unlawful consumer malpractice. How can Sarah Bond get up on stage and talk all that good shit and then change their minds about it a year later?
You know what annoys me about a lot of this? People wanting xbox exclusives are being referred to as toxic fanboys.
First of all, have people forgotten that with less/no exclusives, it’ll decrease console sales which will affect third party support? I don’t understand why people don’t realise that. Okay a PS gamer gets to play Sea of Thieves, but if you’ve invested in the xbox ecosystem that eventually threatens your ecosystem.
Secondly, if Sony was doing this people like Jim Ryan would be getting death threats.
It is false advertising. That’s why they had to stop showing their games as “Xbox exclusives” in their Developer Directs and Showcases. It’s lawsuit material. Anyone still believing it’s only Hi-Fi Rush, think about that. When was the last time you saw Microsoft revealing a game as console exclusive?
Whatever happens? will happen. All i can do is do what is best for me. In my case i will be ready.
That would take too long. We talking 10 plus years time. The higher ups people don’t have time for that long.
You have a PC why do you need a PS5 to enjoy superior version of Microsoft games? The superior version of Microsoft games are on PC lol.
I don’t know if MS include R&D or not. I just know they said it under oath in court. If MS were to lie in court under oath and they find out? MS would be in a world of hurt right now. That is how i know MS is not lying when they said that.
I’m not sure what the specifics are around consumer law are, but if all the rumours end up being true, and they do end up going multiplatform, I genuinely hope someone (or a group of people) sue the shit out of them for it. There has to be consequences for misleading your customers like this. Sony would never do this. We deserve better.
Fair enough thats your perogative- but you cant even see any reason that someone else might reasonably have a different opinion? Forgive me if i dont put much weight in your logical, clinical, analysis of this as yet unconfirmed rumour.
This post literally makes no sense. You have a PC that can play the best versions of MS and Japanese games and your going to spend a lot of money to buy a PS5 Pro for a lesser version than what your PC can run, and not only that, but only for a few MS games as we know they’re not all releasing on PS5.
I’m starting to think this board is becoming like Twitter and being infiltrated by bots or something, some of the takes are wild!
Simply because my PC isn’t on par with a Series X today, and probably wouldn’t compete with a hypothetical PS5 pro either. Now, you guys are right, I might stick to PC, I don’t even know if that PS5 Pro is real.
I do see why people have a different opinion. I explained what I was planning to do as an individual.
But taking away all exclusives will render your machine useless to the public if the other machine can play the same and more.
Watching these former “fans” on Twitter has enraged me. Did they always feel this way? Was it a grift? I feel stupid right now for wasting time following them. Timdog seems to be the only one truly hurt. The others feel phony and i dont think i can stay watching them.
Ok sorry if i misinterpreted your intention but perhaps a better way to put this then would have been “I see no reason for me to stay in the Xbox ecosystem”
There will be reasons to stay in the ecosystem, GP, your purchased library, controller etc whether that’s enough for the individual is on them but for the majority…big doubt
It is discussion, and while I shared my plans, I was encouraging other fans who know Hi-Fi Rush isn’t an exception to share the reasons why they will keep buying Xbox consoles in the future. I understand that my view and wording are controversial; I will silence myself if it causes frustation. This is the end of Xbox for me anyway. Thank you all. Please forgive my passion, I wish you all the best.
Game Pass, Controller, Quick Resume, BC games, achievements, console design and reliability, SSD expansion cards, community… Maybe it’s not that important to people, but that’s still features Xbox have that other don’t (or in less favorable ways).
It only seems like a toxic relationship because you’re thinking of it as a relationship in the first place. You’re expecting loyalty, dedication, fair treatment - human qualities - from a corporation. The corporation does not regard this as a relationship. The only interest the corporation has in the fan base is the cash in their wallets - and it will happily forgo one fan base’s cash if it can squeeze even more from another’s.
You dont need to apologise for passion. My intention was to disagree and pushback respectfully - whether i acheived this or not i dont know. But reasonable minds can differ (to borrow a phrase from Hoeglaw).
If you no longer want to engage thats up to you but i certainly wasnt thinking that you should stay silent - just perhaps suggesting a different perspective to consider.
For my part youre welcome here so long as the discussion remains respectful whether you are done with xbox, a live or die fan, or somewhere in between.
I’m not far off from your thinking, I think largely exclusives are an overvalued quality to explain hardware sales, but they do affect in the narrative and perception. I personally wouldn’t be surprised if console sales take a hit with this, but I also wouldn’t be surprised if they don’t. We can surmise about the dynamics of the market but only real life evidence will suffice.
