The Ascent |OT| Behave, or I'll have you fucking recycled

Game pass deals are not publishing deals, they don’t control when a game releases and they’re not responsible for its quality. Obviously, they want everything to work, but that is inherently on the publisher and developer of each title.

True but since Microsoft is paying for the game to be in Game Pass, im sure they could talk to the publisher if they believe that a game needs more time because any game that goes into Game Pass day one that is seen by the majority as disappointing to say the least is going to fall on Microsoft and Xbox as opposed to the publisher and developer, Curve Digital and Neon Giant in this case.

I bought the game and am waiting for a few patches but I have noticed that the trend of getting co-op/MP games in Game Pass day one like Outriders, Dark Alliance and The Ascent all had issues at launch ranging from minor to major.

Microsoft should make sure the games are ready because like I said, any negativity is going to be seen as being on Microsoft and Xbox brand. Few people will even look at who the publisher and developer are. In this case, I never heard of Curve Digital until The Ascent and obviously, this is Neon Giant’s first game so im just being realistic in regards to who would get the majority of the blame.

With that said, again, I did buy the game and have no intention on refunding it but it is disappointing that it has some issues and no HDR is very surprising but thankfully, I enjoyed what I played to where it’s worth waiting for Neon Giant to patch it up.

It’s not that different than marketing deals really and Xbox has, in my opinion, had some real stinkers over the past couple of years due to the games not turning out great, even though on paper they should have.

The only games Xbox has control over the quality is their own games and those are the ones they need to ensure are released in a polished state.

The bugs aren’t really bothering me yet, it’s more the massive difficulty spikes.

You’ll be fine for ages and then they’ll be one encounter with overwhelming forces or a tough enemy and you’ll die so fast you can’t do anything. Gets really frustrating when the Checkpoint is five minutes away.

I think the rocket launcher is broken, it makes the game way too easy, anyone else been using it?

My biggest problem on second play through is my trigger cutting out during boss battles.

Sure for a small team would be a hard task for going W3 choices & consequences.

Yes I know but didn’t play it yet, I didn’t know it was in GP thanks will DL it right now.

The RPG launcher or the big wind up launcher?

Playing with the Mrs yesterday and after finishing a mission, i got on a lift that went up immediately before she could get on. It locked the camera on her so I was pulled off the lift and fell under the map

This boss had me at odds. That was until I stepped back and changed my gear, I put on Fire resistant gear and the fight went completely differently.

Energy weapons melt bots as well, I think you can get the Enforcer around that area. Aso, hack the pods if you are close enough.

Impossible! I was told by the financial experts on Twitter that Game Pass reduces sales.

Jokes aside, nice to see the game doing well.

Napkin math puts its between 165K - 185K copies at $30/$27.

You’re welcome. I know Darksiders Genesis is leaving GP soon so you may want to look into when it’s leaving.

And one copy at $24 since that’s what I paid as a GPU subscriber. Hehehe.

I see some people experiencing what I am:

First off, I want to say this game is fun, really cool design, fun gameplay, cool world. I’m only five or six hours into it right now, but I am definitely going to finish it, and I’ve been having a good time for the most part.

I think how much better this game could be with a little more polish, and dev manpower but I do think this game ip has some serious potential and for all my concerns/frustrations below it is a good game IMO

A few of my frustrations so far:

#1 by a long shot….What is with the random placement of way higher level enemies? You’re running along doing just fine and all of a sudden there are enemies that are 20 levels higher than you and they just one shot you it’s frustrating, And whoever said it earlier is correct, sometimes it is along your waypoint path which makes no sense? I am baffled why they don’t have enemy level scaling?

The map, first off I like Having the 3-D map, in theory it could be very useful, however I find the map to be very confusing to read where the heck the pathways are? I know they have a waypoint system for quests, but it is one at a time, you have to manually go into the tabs then pick the quest, you can’t make your own waypoints, and sometimes where the waypoint guides you to go is not the most convenient way to get there. I just wanna know what quest is closest to me? In order to do that I have to cycle through every single quest, one at a time, open the journal, select quest, close journal, hit wp, see distance, rinse & repeat over and over again, ugh. Something like AC Odyssey has, where it shows you the distance to the quest and you can arrange them by lowest would be really helpful here.

Can I please turn off the gibberish voices from non voiced NPC’s that I have to talk to? I hate that, It makes me want to skip to the conversation as fast as I can just to avoid hearing it

They could’ve explained fast travel a little better in my opinion, there is a metro, you can call a taxi, however I didn’t find that to be clearly explained/understood right away

I still don’t fully understand how the deck/ICE thing works, I’ve been picking a fair amount of them up, and yet I still can’t open ICE2 chests? How many do I have to collect before I can do that?

No timeline on a patch yet? Im holding out till then to continue my run.

A patch has just been released earlier today. It has added difficulty levels and fixed some of the buggy sidequests I read. I’m going to test it.

No HDR yet

Think I am done with this one. On paper it should be right up my street but just not enjoying it at all.
