Let’s say it like this.
You can play the whole game without touching the main quest, but the quest Into the Unknown unlocks something cool.

Kals is right in my opinion. The game’s pretty open as soon as you have your ship and reach New Atlantis, but there are certain things locked behind the aforementioned mission that you’ll want asap.
I would agree. It’s not that there’s a wrong way to play. But finishing Into the Unknown unlocks some neat stuff that it will be helpful to have going forward.
I suppose for me powers are like shouts in Skyrim, an ok thing to have but not something that’s really needed. But I will admit to finding good use of them against terrormorphs.
So far I have been doing all the side quests in New Atlantis. But those are the more fetch type of quests. These probably aren’t any different no matter how far I get into main story, right?
Because I do plan to do some more story stuff and do that one mission, Mort recommended me that as well the other day. After the Direct in June I was like *I’m gonna ignore any quests at first and just go wherever I want to. " but I definitely notice when you do that and you are hellbent on discovering and 100%ing every planet…that boredom but also fatique will set in. I really don’t want that.
I’ll check out a planet here and there, but probably I’ll be mostly focusing for several hours on the stuff BGS crafted themselves. Really want to avoid a “burnout” with this one. I also got several quests I took from those terminals, like destroy this fleet and deliver that cargo. I think those are the radiant quests?
Only some side quests pop up after certain main quests, but I think it’s related to the Constellation crew.
In Skyrim and other TES games it was required to reach a certain level for certain side quests. Not sure how it’s in Starfield.
I would ignore 100% every planet when it’s not for you. I’m just following my quest log or when I talk with a named NPC for a potential new side quest.
IMO scanning is very tedious.
Terminal quests are radiant quests.
Honestly I would just walk around cities and see if a random activity leads you to a named NPC or just talk with named NPCs for potential quests.
You can also find a lot of cool side quests when you enter a new solar system.
Yea I have a manual save for pretty much every hour.
Alright, I’m going to show off some massive disappointment for this game…
Space Grandma doesn’t remember us if we encounter her again. WHY!?
The biggest thing I’m missing in Starfield is the idling while moving from location A to B. You kinda have it in cities, but not when exploring in space or on a planet.
I love it in FO and TES. Like riding from Windhelm to Solitude and just enjoying the moment while having a purpose.
I can’t say I rode to any place often, because the carriage was right there, and I was cutting riding to just locations close to each city.
I do a lot more running around in Starfield though, as I have to, but being able to float around makes the large amounts of walking take less time.
Skyrim’s ambience is unmatched.
Yeah, but on the flip side, you don’t get the feeling of coziness that is landing on a cold planet and seeing a herd of alien life just walking by in front of your cockpit. It definitely makes you want to put on the pot of coffee.
Do you guys know when mod support will be available for Starfield on Xbox?

Biggest Bethesda launch ever.
I also love that Aaron called it the game of the generation. That must annoy some folks

Yeh but those loading screens mate… plus i still cannot land on gas planets !
That’s incredible, because it’s not on the almighty Holy god console called PlayStation. This just shows they can do just fine with skipping the platform. TES VI too. Of course Game Pass is helping a lot here, but I’m sure it sold fine too.
Sadly, no. Hopefully it won’t be too long of a wait.
Usually when an enemy jetpack explodes indoors they’re rocketed into the ceiling. Have seen there bodies get stuck just hanging from the ceiling at times. When this happens outdoors it’s a different story…
