Starfield |OT| You're Finally Awake... In Space!

Ah awesome, I wondered how it would work with the 5 days early access. Sounds promising :slightly_smiling_face:.

I know you won’t be able to confirm and I don’t consider it a spoiler at all (will mark as such anyway) but

I have seen so many comments stating the game is so polished, so much so that they haven’t encountered any bugs at all during their gameplay - how incredible!

Gonna be naughty, what backgrounds did you pick? don’t need to talk about them  annnd technically it’s public knowledge.

Not having played a Bethesda game until Starfield is crazy to me but I’m truly a little jealous, being able to play one of these for the first time is something else

Playing Oblivion in 2007 for the first time was one of the most mind blowing gaming experiences iv ever had and there hasn’t been a jump like it since imo, it was just so far ahead of everything out there at the time

Even now there really is no other dev out there that does what Bethesda does so hopefully you get similar enjoyment with Starfield

Early Access is so weird to see though, it’s the complete game and today’s date and age early access is something very different.

oop, gone back to some reactions to the direct and this one person was super excited and near the end they were like I hope this runs ok on my PS5

Early Access on Xbox means accessing the full game early. Game Preview is their wording for “early access” as we know it on PC. I get the confusion.

Watched 2001

I have no doubts this was amazing back in the day, especially in the theatres. And some parts truly are nice, really showing you how eerie and insanely intimidating and fascinating space is. But it can also be incredibly boring, I was dozing off a few times. The part with HAL was interesting but it took way too long to get there.

Unfortunately it’s not the experience for me I hoped it would be. On to the next space movie!

This is…kinda freaking cool!

I mean a full on custom Xbox is great, but for me as a launch XSX owner it wouldn’t matter at all, wouldn’t be getting it. Now I can make my XSX give this look? That is cool!

This is interesting.

I looked at the best selling gaming items at one of our biggest and best gaming focused stores, Webhallen. Dominated by PlayStation and Nintendo of course, with the PS5 at #1. The Xbox items on the top 100 were:

  • #6 Xbox Series X Forza bundle.
  • #29 Elite Series 2 Controller.
  • #40 Xbox Series Recharcheable battery+USB C cable
  • #45 Elite Series 2 Controller Core white
  • #49 Xbox Series Controller Deep Pink
  • #74 Xbox Controller + wireless adapter Win 10
  • #82 Xbox Series Controller Green
  • #98 Xbox Series Stereo Headset

The only Xbox console is that Forza bundle, whilst PS5 has four spots at #1, #2, #4 and #9 (even the PS4 charts at #16) No Series S in the list, and even the PS4 is on it… No games for Xbox but plenty for PS and Nintendo, could be explained by the heavy digital share on Xbox though. No Starfield either but I’m not sure pre-orders show up on the list. The Starfield controller and headset is sold out.

The biggest electronics store, Elgiganten’s list for video games:

  • #4 Xbox Wireless Controller White
  • #6 Xbox Wirelss Controller STARFIELD
  • #10 Xbox Series S
  • #14 Xbox Wireless Controller Lunar Shift
  • #15 Xbox Wireless Controller Carbon Black
  • #17 Xbox Wireless Controller Pink
  • #20 Xbox Series S 1TB
  • #27 PowerA Xbox Enwired Controller
  • #28 Seagate Game Drive for Xbox 4TB
  • #30 Xbox Series X
  • #35 Elite Series 2 Core White Controller
  • #44 Xbox Wireless Controller Velocity Green
  • #48 Xbox Series X Forza Horizon Bundle
  • #49 Pirhana Xbox charging station
  • #50 Xbox Wireless Controller Sunkissed
  • #51 Xbox Wirelss Controller Shock Bllue
  • #55 Xbox Wireless Controller Robot White
  • #59 Turtle Beach Recon Controller Xbox
  • #66 Xbox Wireless Controller Recon
  • #67 PowerA Play&Charge Kit
  • #72 Xbox Elite Series 2 Controller
  • #86 Xbox Series X Diablo IV Bundle
  • #87 Xbox Charging Cable
  • #88 Xbox Series Wireless Controller Black
  • #91 Xbox Series Wireless Controller Yellow
  • #93 Xbox Dual Charging Station

This seems to be where the Series S is selling. It’s the “casual” store so it makes sense. No games at all for Xbox on this list either, but the Starfield controller showed up. PS and Nintendo dominating here too of course, with the PS5 at #1, #2, #12, #31 and #32 for their console and bundles (and the PS4 at #42 and #89!)

As for Amazon SE, it’s only been in the country for a couple of years and I’m not sure how big it is. They had a bit if a rocky start with stupid translations, home page from the 90’s etc… We have a very strong local retailers too with tough competition and great services and tech knowledge.

But here’s the Xbox items on the Amazon SE top 100:

  • #10 Xbox Series Wireless Controller White
  • #11 Xbox Series Wireless Controller Carbon Black
  • #13 Xbox Series X
  • #30 Xbox Wireless Controller Volt
  • #31 Xbox Rechargeable battery+USB-C cable
  • #39 Xbox Rechargeable Battery Pack
  • #47 Venom Charging Dock + Batteries
  • #67 Xbox Elite Series 2 Controller
  • #79 Venom Rechargable battery 2-pack
  • #82 Xbox Series Wirelesss Controller Black
  • #93 Xbox Wireless Headset

That’s it. No Series S, no games for Xbox, no Starfield stuff.

I enjoy making lists haha. Surprised to see the PS4 still selling everywhere…

The trailer had some very cool parts, something that almost seems like magic. But also the part where you explore a space ship or station and all of a sudden everything including yourself floats around, loved that part. And when you’re floating and shooting your gun you get pulled backwards, very cool little detail. Exciting to think about all these things awaiting us.

As someone that has worked at NASA for many years, this is definitely my potential dream game. The matching up of their awesome looking “NASA punk” art style, space exploration into the unknown, and of course the Bethesda RPG style could be my perfect storm in video gaming

Are you casually dropping that you worked at NASA ?!

I’m kind of curious of what you were doing there though

Has this ever been done officially before? Because it seems like such a no brainer, easy money.

I don’t think it has been done before no.

You know, I decided to do research on that “dev” and the game he was in charge and stumbled upon a video that I’m currently watching. Now I see why he talk crap about marketing. The way he does it is overboard and cringy. Like imagine Starfield marketing involve with skateboarding kids doing 360 and just say “bet we could do more spin in Starfield” and it ends. The man spent so much money on marketing that doesn’t need that much.
