I wish we saw gamplay of redfall. It’s supposed to be out basically a year from now. I imagine we should see some soon. Based on the desciption it looks interesting.
[Spoiler Free] Xbox + Bethesda Games Showcase |OT| Tempered Expectations Not ALLOWED! [Spoiler Free]
Between Gamescom and TGA we should see something, going from here directly to next E3 with nothing in between and then an immediate release would be a marketing mistake and we all know that Xbox doesn’t like shows in the first half of the year (and Inside Xbox is dead).
Inside Xbox is dead because of covid. But they might start doing it again whenever they can go back to offices.
Also, they have tested doing events for specific games (Age of Empires 4), which could happen again for redfall.
After watching the RedFall trailer 4 times (various reaction vids) I frigging loved that it ended with that. Looks so good, what a f’ing show.
XO shows were the in person ones, they can do Inside Xbox during the pandemic, they just haven’t.
I can see it happening for infinite which needs it
Just watched the showcase a second time with the kinda funny crew. In the top 3 best showcases in the past 8 years for me.
Standouts for me were:
Starfield Stalker 2 Flight Sim Forza Horizon 5 Shredders The Outer Worlds 2
Was cool how they opened/closed the show with Zenimax/Bethesda games. Probably gonna queue up some 4k trailers and watch them way too many times before the games come out.
Godfall is crossgen.
You can download it from Youtube or wait till launch.
Just don’t wanna be very toxic about it but Forza Horizon 5 (a racing gaming) looks way more photorealistic and next-gen than any PS gameplay I’ve seen this year. As a Xbox fan, I’m really proud of Playground Games and I think it’s a hidden gem which can prove to be even more than what Insomniac is to PS. They had been through thick and thin delivering high quality exclusives for Xbox when there weren’t any. I want Phil to know now that you have well established “acquisitions” in your studio lineup, please invest heavily on team Playground Games as it’s have been through a “natural growth” which we are really proud of.
Also the show is 9/10 for me as we are getting two big, very big AAA first party exclusives this year let alone all the great big exclusives jam packed for next two years. This further makes a strong argument in making an investment on Xbox ecosystem from a consumer point of view. And I really really don’t get the hate towards racing genre. My first game that I played on my first PC was NFS MW which I’m not ashamed to admit. Playground games has really reinvented that genre as there’s no real competitor. Graphics of racing games are never supposed to look even better than the blockbuster action adventure AAA titles but here we are all thanks to Playground.
I did not watch the whole show last night, but I did see the second half of it. And after I looked through the games that was presented. For me personally it was a good show, but there are two things that I realised after this years.
- I’m probably done with consoles for the foreseeable future.
- I am so glad that Microsoft has gone the rout they have with not dropping last gen, as well as fully supporting PC.
The reason for number one has been coming for a few years now. I find games on the consoles less and less interesting. I rarely play anything and when I do I get bored, feel that I am wasting my time.
Don’t get me wrong, I am not saying they are a waste of time, or that they are less good games in general. On the contrary, there are probably more good games now than ever before, counting in shear quantity. But on console there aren’t so many of the games I want to play. I love strategy, simulation (ex. Simcity etc.) and CRPG, and there are more of them, and they play better (to me), on PC.
The games i found most interesting was easily Age of Empires, Flight Simulator and Halo (campaign), with the first of the three my most anticipated.
And this brings me to my second point. Because Microsoft chose the path they did I can play many of the games at the show - if I wanted to - on their older hardware (My One S). And when I have built my PC I can still be in the Xbox ecosystem, continue to use game-pass, and still enjoy their future games day and date.
Brilliant!
It’s not toxic to say that FH5 looks incredible, because honestly, I think it might be the best-looking game of all time.
But I thought XGS can’t put out games that look as good as Horizon ?
Xbox has studios that have plenty of technical chops and we will be seeing plenty of gorgeous games from them this gen.
Horzion looks better than Horizon huehuehue
Can’t decide between it and FS. Need more videos. Probably need to wait till release to decide though.
I liked the show more on my 2nd viewing.
Playground Games should do a seminar on how to do game presentations. Cause HOLY MOLY. That’s by far the best game presentation I have ever seen.
For a transition period, during a pandemic, that was a really solid E3. Considering the circumstances, I’m gonna bump my original score of 7/10 to a 8.5/10. Despite some of my issues. I actually liked this E3 more than any of the last 7 ones. IMO
Is stalker 2 a full exclusive?
Have to say, I’m surprised to see just how positively people are reacting to this show.
When comparing with last year, I don’t see much of a difference. For me personally, 2020 was the better show as it simply had more stuff that was my type of thing. Trying to look with unbiased eyes though, I can’t see why 2020 got shit on but this year is getting nothing but praise.
They were both high quality shows, well put together with a whole bunch of games to enjoy in various genres & styles, from both first & third party, with lots of Game Pass goodness. Yet for some reason this year is getting all of the applause. It’s weird.
I wonder if this is the year when it has finally sunk in for certain people that Xbox isn’t going to collapse
Like, are people finally understanding that Xbox are actually trying to build one of the best gaming ecosystems ever? That shows like this will almost be the norm, moving forward? Is it hitting home & are people just now realising how cool it could be?! Maybe that’s the reason for the positivity.
Only 3 months according to the leaked Epic lawsuit document. They should’ve looked it down for life.
Unfortunately not.
I thought this was a really compelling show, overall. Well-constructed and filled with interesting titles. Starfield was always going to be my highlight, but there really wasn’t much that didn’t speak to me on some level.
I’ve been offline all day, what has the general consensus been (excluding the usual bad faith variety)?
Halo looked great, Forza got a lot gameplay, overall a good mix of gameplay and cgi. Many amazing gamepass stuff. Overall just great. Last year was good with annoucements but you got almost no gameplay.
