I really wish we could get rid of review scores. It’s so subjective and there are literally no rules or guidelines everyone has to follow, so it ends up being based on that particular person’s perspective/agenda, how they’re feeling that day, or any other factor that never makes it’s way into the actual review.

It’s dumb, it’s implementation is dumb and the fact that some sites’ reviews are weighted much more than others is dumb. The fact that a game getting an 8/10 is considered a terrible thing is a symptom of this insane industry and the lunatics who engage with it on a daily basis.

And somehow that is OK and even encouraged when it comes to anything Xbox related.

Seriously Xbox fans would be better off ignoring gaming media and 99% of gaming forums besides this place and just play and enjoy games in the eco system.

If you just go about your day enjoying games on Xbox you’d never know all the biased crap being spewed all the time to try and bring it down.

Outside of games being completely broken, I don’t take reviewers/critics opinions seriously on anything whether it’s games or movies anymore and haven’t for a long time, especially when the games are on GP anyway and I can try them out for “free”

Not only do critics and my opinion rarely match but many of these critics and journalists sold out their integrity a long time ago and I don’t believe a single word they say anymore

I’m taking back my like, they scored the original 78 or so.

Just started and did the tutorial/opening, got to admit that’s a pretty great tutorial, it doesn’t tell you shit. I was thinking to myself how do I block? and I had to pause to look, but the game is kind of exhausting to me so I will be taking it slow.

Excellent review @Sikamikanico .

Looking forward to getting my hands on it tonight.

Yep some of them are hilarious - sometimes PureXbox are OK but other times say about FH5 “amazing game, best thing ever but it’s just more Forza Horizon - 8/10”, while their sister site PushSquare on Final Fantasy 16 basically said “massive performance issues, anything outside the main quest is mind-numbingly dull and boring - 9/10”.

The scores so rarely seem to match what’s said in the reviews…

Reached to the level of The Game Awards demo.

Yep, I was mistaken!

I’m in 100% agreement. I do wonder though, can the likes of Open/Metacritic not implement guidelines to get sites to post reviews in a standardised manner or they won’t get featured on their sites?

I don’t think anyone really cares enough to try and I think they would fail if they did. Ultimately I think everyone involved actually likes the way things work because it brings controversy and an endless amount of engagement. The fact that so many obsess over MC scores is proof of this for me.

Great review - cant wait to dive in tonight.

And some of the online discourse (i know i should avoid it) is weird - God forbid someone give a good score to something they immensly enjoyed or were impressed by.

I have a four-day weekend coming up, plan on diving in on Friday. Though, I might boot it tonight just to look at it and check out that fidelity.

I wonder if anybody has tried playing this game with Game Scent?

I know supposedly it sucks but if it didn’t playing in the dark with headphones and smelling the ocean or that volcanic steam rising from the earth would have added that final immersive touch. :joy:

That writer needs to be fired and the outlet blacklisted immediately. Console wars and making fun of terminally ill children is insane.

The actual quote reads even worse.

“It feeds into an oddly patronising atmosphere-Senua is special and important just because she is and everyone recognises it on sight and praises her for it. It starts to seem like shes a Make-A-Wish child whose request was to be in God of War.”

So not that she looks like a make a wish child but that she is undeserving of the attention and praise she gets - what, like a Make-a-wish child?

What an awful comment to make.

Literally insulting make a wish kids and saying they don’t deserve attention

Gamespot Review: “Extremely minimal gameplay with simple puzzles and flat combat.” 60/100

Different writers. But this is basically what I meant when I said that review sites will find a way to drag it down. If someone’s too positive about an Xbox game, get someone else to review it. (Pure speculation, obviously. But it certainly seems a bit odd.)
