COVID nuked at least 1.5 years of this gen. We are just now seeing more games come out of it. Things will get better soon
Actually, this is incorrect. You are seeing the overlap of covid and teams struggling financially. Ue5 is user friendly and is basically the same or easier to use. Scripting is the same and there is Great potential, most games will switch I can see how someone with no development ability would make that mistake though.
Ue5 stinks
Sucks for half of XGS’s output then.
Let’s not jump to conclusions and at least wait until a notable studio releases a UE5 game.
Seems like a valid and well educated response.
It seems fine now on the Series X after the recent patch:

Apparently the 30fps mode has really good motion blur.
I believe UE5 has a weak introduction to the mass when first games are from lesser known studios or those who aren’t too familiar with the engine. UE3 got it easy when Gears of War was released. Not only it was the first game, at least to the casual audience, but it was done by Epic themselves.
With UE5, it’s technically introduced by Fortnite, a game that you can’t really tell unless you thoroughly examine it. Plus it’s an old game being patched to it rather than ground up or steroid heavily like Dead Space. I know The Matrix demo could count as one, but it’s a demo. People need a full game to show its power. While I’m glad for Coalition has time to work on it, the engine showcase will continue to suffer if more games are released from developers who only see the engine as impressive shell.
@Doncabesa I watched the Escapist 3-Minute Review on this and the reviewer, who is apparently a fan of and has finished Souls games, found LotF to be so difficult that he stopped trying to finish the game for review after 18 hours. I’m terrible at these kinds of games, but your review made it sound like LotF is at least somewhat approachable. Is it really as brutal as the other reviewer says?
It never felt unfair to me. I had a solid build but nothing crazy.
