Why Jesse why, my heart can’t take it.

Just finished the first chapter and so far it is incredible :exploding_head::scream:

THAT level…OMG…so good. Sam Lake, you crazy genius !

Edit : yeah, still playing, as I can’t even wait for patches.

I haven’t played it myself yet, but it seems Remedy has really made something special. So many years after the first one, but it sounds like they’ve done it.

If you are a fan of X Files, Twin Peaks or Alan Wake you have to play this!

I kind of forgot Alan Wake is split into chapters. I have just completed chapter 2 and it is so good. The Taken in this game are no joke though.

Really enoying this at the moment. The start of the game is very slow and bit boring

Been enjoying the beginning chapters (now in the subway with Alan Wake). The game is a lot slower than I expected it to be, there’s quite a bit of exploration in it and interesting lore is scattered around. That being said, some of these artifical level barriers aren’t fun to navigate and it would be nicer if paths you can’t walk are visually a bit more clear to the player. Combat is okay but I don’t find it compares that well to the recent Resident Evil games which they obviously were inspired from. Excited to see where the story takes me next though!

Cool to see MS promoting this game

Links here for the curious. I fired up Alan Wake Remastered to see how it feels and I might just try to zip through it until AW2 gets a bit more stable.

Finished the game last night. Really enjoyed it! My only complaints are that the backtracking is a bit annoying and that the inventory system is ass.

It’s not as good as the recent Resident Evil games, but dear lord is it an improvement over Alan Wake 1. Recently replayed that game in preparation for AW2 and the combat has not aged well.

Microsoft fucked up not acquiring Remedy and making Alan Wake 2. This game is amazing.

Made my own little review. Put all potential spoilers in brackets

Pros.

  • Gameplay inspired by recent Resident Evil titles and whilst not as good still plays very well. Nice amount of weapon variety.
  • The game is legitimately creepy. Modern lighting solutions are a massive boon for horror games.
  • The taken are actually creepy this time around. In the first game they were not creepy at all.
  • The game is rather challenging, and normal enemies can and will fuck you up.
  • The story is very well executed, and whilst some things are rather predictable they do manage to surprise you.
  • The game is absolutely gorgeous. It looks stunning in quality mode
  • The live action segments are well realised and graphics have reached the point where the inclusion of live action segments isn’t that grating anymore. Loved the fact they included an entire shortfilm that last 15 minutes in one of the levels and the musical is really fun

Meh.

  • The rifle has a scope you can’t use.
  • The game could have included an extra enemy to improve enemy variety.
  • I’m a sucker for weapon upgrades and the weapon upgrade system is based on a lot of slogging around looking for lunchboxes.
  • Metals tend to be a tad bit too shiny and stand out too much.

Cons.

  • The game is very obvious with enemy spawns. If you have a lot of ammo the game will repeatedly spam multiple enemies in an area even if you have recently
  • Lots of slogging around forests.
  • Can be pretty buggy, but restarting the game tends to fix issues and the patches have definitely worked out some issues 9/10

Can’t wait for a sequel. It isn’t a loop, but a spiral afterall. Hope they don’t conclude the Alan Wake story in the Control universe, since I wasn’t very fond of control

Ms did a lot of baffling things in the xbox one era

Encountered the “Espresso Express” bug, where one of the carts on the ride is stuck in place, not letting you progress. Tried the work around people have been using (doing the puzzle and then saving and restarting) but no luck. I guess I have to wait for the next patch to continue, and just when Saga’s story was shifting into high gear. Its funny because I thought to myself “Too many small objects are clipping when I bump into them. I wish more objects were static.” Well I guess I got my wish😅

Edit: Aaaand it just got patched with today’s update. Glad I didn’t have to wait long. Here are the patch notes for anyone who is curious about what’s in the latest update.
