Nvidia GeForce Now Game Streaming

Well, I got it working.

But the audio delay is ridiculous and it doesn’t look too great either, it felt smooth but there was a noticeable input lag in Destiny 2. It’s the free tier of GeforceNow, so perhaps that’s why max resolution is 1080p, but it already showed me artefacts and annoying performance issues. I thought this could maybe be nice for the games that don’t come to Xbox, but looking at what they offer, it doesn’t even seem to be that many.

FF16, we’re quite likely getting that this year. I saw there is a demo of it though, but for some reason it doesn’t get added to my library even though I did exactly that. Yeah, I’m quitting this for now.

I was talking in terms of raw PC graphics card power and upgrading GPUs in reference to this comment I replied too initially.

“Some people say it can perfectly replace a console for living room gaming on a big screen thanks to Steam Big Screen mode, but the tinkering with settings to get games running well will always be a thing.

Gerforce Experience (Now Nvidia App) is a series of options from Nvidia to get the most out of your card… New driver updates, GPU settings, Performance tools (frame counter etc, game recording software)

You’re on the free tier, which can have queues during busy times.

I got the “Priority” tier (or whatever it’s called) for 6 months for half price. While there are occasionally still waiting times in the evening, it’s rarely more than maybe a minute or two.

Stadia was a much better experience overall. I still miss it.

It sometimes takes a while to get past the Steam screen. Sometimes it does actually get stuck, sometimes it opens a third-party login in the background (which you can’t see!) and sometimes it just works.

Mouse and keyboard is not mandatory, but it sure helps to have a multimedia keyboard with touchpad handy sometimes.

So yes, it can be a headache. Especially with older games, in my experience. New releases are probably better optimised.
