What’s with the Akira homage/rip-off? Any connection with the game, or just for shits and giggles?

Hell yeah! I’ve wanted to play this since the first game on the Wii but never had the chance. Will definitely check it out now.

Looked around some for the answer to this, and found this bit:

One of Japan’s pioneers in animation, Akira set the tone for global recognition and brought Japanese culture to the worldwide stage. Given that No More Heroes is a dramatic nod to Japan’s cultural icons, the gritty cyberpunk animation had to have some representation. Travis has shown off the iconic bike slide in commercials, and in-game, you’re able to execute it complete with animation as you drive around Santa Destroy.

The similarities in style between Travis and Shotaro Kaneda are striking, both rocking a red leather jacket with a hard-nosed attitude. Even the location Neo Osaka is a callback to the dystopian Neo Tokyo in the movie. The series has been going since 2007, proving the massive impact the movie and manga have had, being relevant over 30 years later.

I haven’t play them but from what i’ve seen this series has tons of references and easter eggs to other series. The first one apparently has tons of Star Wars references for example.

Definitely going to check this out…And because there’s a physical Xbox version…won’t hesite to spend full price on the box.

I haven’t played the 3rd, but have the 1st two games on the Wii and like the developer, they’re so overrated IMO.

Of course they are. But they would be being exclusive to a nintendo system.

But NMH3 will be a blast when we can play it with higher res and 60fps. Theyre fun games. Not amazing but have a cool style and fun
