Microsoft Closing Some Beloved Studios

You think separate hardware? So not like Switch is?

Why not Both? Especially if we’re making what are basically PCs anyway

this, but combining both pc and handheld is highly interesting but i doubt we get there in the next generation

Will MS do that? I mean Nintendo wasn’t willing to make a powerful system with Switch, then again, they know their fanbase doesn’t really care all that much. And I was being told I just can’t expect a hybrid to be super powerful, it will cost too much. Maybe MS doesn’t care, we’ll see.

For one thing, their handheld would be more expensive, and would trounce what nintendo does. Nintendo want’s a profit day 1. Secondly, I think MS could make dedicated handheld, Pure console, and hybrid forms.

Whatever they make will be a PC/Console hybrid id imagine, not a hybrid like the switch

I remember the good old days when Nintendo use to be all about power.

The N64 was 3x more powerful than the PS1 and the GameCube was way more powerful than the PS2.

I wonder how the Big 3(soon to be the 2) will get people to invest in their ecosystem since the “industry is moving away from exclusives”.

Hah, i doubt it. Exclusives are still going to be needed to draw in an audience towards their ecosystem, if folks think people come just for the software than, my friend, they are lying.

What’s your timescale for soon? 2040?

Personally, I wish Microsoft would just make and release one $500 console SKU next generation.

The system that isn’t working well and is severely slowing down? Why would you want that?

So that MS can sell even less consoles, I thought that was the plan?

Having two different console SKU’s this generation for Xbox hasn’t worked at all so doing it again or having three console SKU’s would somehow be better than just focusing on one single console?

If Microsoft had one great console and marketed it and stopped saying “no console required”, maybe just maybe they would actually make an impact and sell a shit ton. Having two or more SKU’s isn’t making it better, it’s making it worse.

Based on what? How do you know how many XSS owners would have bought an XSX rather than not buying an Xbox?

How do you know Series S owners wouldn’t have bought the X if it was the only option? Having more options does provide more choice but it also oversaturates your own console market and in regards to Series S, the lower specs simply cause more money, time and resources for everyone. Also, Microsoft packed stores with Series S consoles and a lot of people wanted the Series X but they couldn’t get it.

You really think with a console brand that is doing poorly even compared to Xbox One that publishers will be excited about once again having two or more SKU’s that they have to pour more money into? I don’t.

Seems a lot are.

If my fantasy world always has the console which is what I prefer above all else, then I don’t want to be in reality. :joy:

Consoles aren’t going anywhere. Acting like they can “sell like crazy” by using the old approach is the fantasy.
