They have great revenue for all of the division. Not just for what we are talking about. Your opinion and my opinion are subjective. But as a collective. They haven’t been there. Overall with everyone’s subjective opinion they have slightly missed the mark.
Shitty news and disgusted by MS
Xbox has always struggled with a hostile press and the fact, that they were too easy to ignore. They had almost turned the tide on that last part. There was a version of Xbox just around the corner, that was a force gamers had to contend with, wether they wanted to or not. But then they gave up on it with their 3rd party strategy. Talk on every game is gonna be: “It’s coming to PS later”, until people have forgotten about the game, and then MS will have to recoupe cost and release it there, because sales are gonna be shit on their regular platforms.
I think it’s comical that Microsoft still considers a console as a pillar of Xbox. Save the development money. You won’t sell past 20mill, unless it’s a handheld, and then they better prey, that steam or Sony don’t go hard that way.
I understand both points. Improving relations in Japan means to improve relations with the likes of Capcom, Namco, Sega, Square, plus the likes of NetEase & Tencent. Owners of commercially successful IP’s that have players.
Sad as it is to say, Tango’s games didn’t have that.
And I gotta say the time to do this was in January this year not less than two weeks before a launching a new game and less than a month away from a showcase. They were definitely considering it back then as well.
THey most likely wanted to get the PS5 version of Hifi Rush, which is why they didn’t do it then
They didn’t need Tango to port the game. But yeah, it’s whatever at this point.
They definitely didn’t get a fair shake IMO. Hi-Fi Rush was their first game published under Microsoft, they didn’t even get to release two games.
Apparently their next project was rumoured to be an exclusive JRPG!!!
Wow I don’t even know what to say. Really shocked they closed Tango, they proved they could make a great game with a smaller team. Doing all this a month away from your biggest showcase of the year is also a decision…
The messaging alone has been so bad and inconsistent, it’s hard to tell who’s making the decisions. Just a total mismanaged disaster all around.
Yeah, at this point I’m expecting to see pretty much everything that’s been in development for 5+ years now at the show. Xbox isn’t playing around now.
Yeah I fear Ninja Theory, Compulsion, Double Fine and The Initiative are next on the chopping block, to think I wanted Asobo to join Xbox… thank God they never sold
The people who have been saying Xbox has a bad management problem for years were likely right too, Hellblade 2 will be in development for over 6 years and will be a 7-8 hour AA game… a game that very likely wasn’t cheap to make or justifiable at that time and whatever money it’s costed them so far, won’t make the money back either… would it surprise anyone if Ninja Theory is next on that chopping block? Wonder how Microsoft will do it, after or before they release their new IP they’ve been working on for over 6 years now too…
I’m thinking of just buying it outright at release as a show of support, though today’s events also make me feel like they’re doomed. Especially depending on whatever measure of success Microsoft decides to use.
Can you all just post the actual source instead of nobodies on Twitter for once?
This is probably one of the more balanced opinion pieces I’ve seen (the non-Xbox media is a complete shitshow as you’d expect) - kinda sums up my feelings now I’ve calmed down, that it’s sad, it appears to fully signal the change in direction (which we’d like more info on) and may suggest Microsoft Gaming isn’t cuddly like Xbox but a ruthless competitor in this arena (guess careful what we’ve wished for):
I think we just won’t see Xbox take risks and instead will make their internal studios focus on what’s guaranteed to sell, that’s it. Arcane Lyon and MachineGames are both working on known IPs (Blade and Indy) for a reason imo, and I feel it’s because MS knows they are safe bets.
Gears 6 will probably do well as it’s a core pillar, and State of Decay 2 has proven to be a staple and a longstay in term of player engagement so 3 will most likely expand on that and I wouldn’t be surprised if there is a GAAS component to the game in order to milk revenues over the span of a decade or so if they can.
I mean, don’t even be surprised if we get another Fable after the upcoming game releases if it’s a success, and expect more Forza Horizons for sure.
The smaller or newer studios have to make their mark, as Compulsion games doesn’t really have their own image yet, but if it fails, don’t be surprised if they get closed down or become a support studio of some kind.
I don’t think it’s as grim as some make it out to be, and I don’t take what I see in social media seriously as it’s all social engagement and stupid fanboys making drama and pushing agendas. The leadership team at XBox has grown exponentially in recent months and looking at the new board that was presented to us a few months ago, don’t be surprised that a lot of reunions were made in how to make all the studios more efficient to push out content at a faster pace.
Who’s to say the accelerated next gen release timeline is actually happening and there is a push being made internally in order to meat deadlines to have loads of content at launch? I doubt they are going in blindly like some like to say and with ABK leadership on board (and that was a tight ship, and a profitable one at that), I have a feeling a lot of pointers were given by those people and that Xbox is actually listening and adapting, and this is what we are seeing right now; ruthless MS trying to gain ground and raise profitability to new heights.
If people wanna ‘‘jump ship’’ because of today’s announcement go ahead, but it’s pointless to point fingers and put supposed blame on people when in the end I think there’s a way to look at this through different eyes and actually try to analyze and make sense of it instead of being sentimental and shit.
And I didn’t need to see this today, especially with how excited for Perfect Dark I was… not based on anything obviously but just the possibilities… I’m prepared for the game to be a disaster though, and I do think The Initiative gets shut down not long after it releases.

Ok… have fun trawling through a 3 hour video for a few words instead…
First, this is most likely clickbait from a nobody. Second, game is in development by Crystal Dynamics, I highly doubt it’s in bad condition. People need to stop looking at random posts online and claim it’s actual info, or you’re no better than those people by spreading bullshit.
Game4index, like who the fuck is this?
He’s quoting Jeff Grubb…
I think most people know Jeff.
