I really wish this misconception of level designers are being put on the MTX team to create weapon skins and that is why we don’t have maps. If tomorrow 343i cancelled the entire MTX store and planned content, that doesn’t mean in a months time we get another 10 maps because they have more people now making maps, that’s not how it works.
It was regarding Don Cabesa comments about new maps not retaining players and compared to Overwatch, it definetely does on Halo.
Ah ok, I’m just tired when people say stuff like ‘stop making MTX greedy company and fix the game and give us more content now!!’ Its like bruh the QA, UI, story and monetisation teams aren’t sitting there designing new maps and content lol. Sorry if you feel like I lashed out at you it was more of a general annoyance I keep seeing.
They launched with a perfectly normal number of maps for a Halo game.
It looks good
But not a perfectly normal amount of maps n content for ranked. And not a perfectly normal amount of content for multiplayer. Most barebones multiplayer experience since halo 2. And I’d argue that was better because it had more mode variants. In which case it would be the most barebones multiplayer of any main halo game.
I’m down to 5 maps in ranked. Feels like 4 because bazzar only has a 8% chance of being played.
Also the wait for more multiplayer maps n content has been longer than any main halo game since 2 now. Halo 3, 4, 5, and reach had map dlc by now. They also had forge, and co-op experiences.
Halo infinite is a great game with barebones multiplayer content. Idk how the latter part is even arguable. I’m confident it will have great meaty content this year and years to come. The barebones content and longer than usual wait for more content is hurting the game but assuming added content is good it’s not the end of the world.
The wait till may for season 2 stinks. Game could really use a mid season content drop. But seriously I’d rather have ranked doubles, ranked slayer and for the missing maps from ranked to be added back in.
Normal count for newly created maps, but it missed extra maps from forge and specific modes that aren’t on Infinite yet.
I don’t understand the “number of maps” controversy.
I play Valorant daily (popular ranked-oriented shooter game), and it has only 7 maps (game was released with 4 maps). Game was released 2 years ago, and we don’t have new maps since August 2021 (and we won’t have new maps in the next season).
Granted they are different genres. But people are still finding “tricks” on Halo Infinite maps, so we are not “done” with them yet. And we can expect to have new maps as part of their live service approach, so it is not like we will be years and years with the same maps.
Real problem is the six months between release and second season, that will make the wait longer than necessary and a longer-than-expected feedback loop. Specially if they do not provide a clear roadmap and vision for next season.
Uh oh, here comes Mostlyharml…
Ha, there it is. I wasn’t fast enough
Imo ur cherry picking one popular game with low maps. I actually only think map count is a “problem” if ur a ranked player though.
The real problem imo is everything besides maps.
Biggest issue to smallest.
-
no forge till august. Such a huge mode that adds an immeasurable amount of replay ability.
-
ranked content. 5 maps, feels like less. 75% chance to play live fire, recharge and streets. Less than 8% chance to play on bazzar. Where’s the playlist variety. Ranked slayer and doubles is a must.
-
no co-op experiences.
-
no stat tracking and no progression outside battlepass. Going back to halo 3 we have always had progression. Where’s the in game stat tracking or leaderboards. This is a basic feature that’s been in almost every multiplayer games since the Xbox 360.
Lol bro. At least I’m not shitting to shit. I love this game. I also haven’t seen a good counterpoint to what I’ve said unless you bring up valorant. Which I’m only arguing about maps in the ranked experience.
I wasn’t even disagreeing with you. Just was funny that I knew you would reply soon and exactly what it would be
i think about what halo needs to improve, and then what bf2042 needs to improve, and i realise halo havent got it quite that bad.
at least halos issue is just its lacking content, and not fundamentally broken like bf2042 is
Heres the shit kicker dice thinks infinite had something to do with 2042’s failures
Halo Infinite is fun, that’s why people want more content. The BF community wants a different game lol.
That doesn’t bode well for a turnaround for BF2042 if they’re that delusional.
I’m genuinely surprised Battlefield 2042 wasn’t a F2P title like Halo Infinite’s multiplayer is. I know there’s people who aren’t happy about the switch to a F2P model but it’s genuinely just the way the market is going for multiplayer games. Call of Duty can resist because it’s Call of Duty but outside that you’re talking about a market space where all the biggest most popular games are free. Battlefield 2042 was already in an uphill battle launching without single player content and at 70$ even before it’s poor launch state - and to do so in direct competition to a Call of Duty game and a free to play Halo title was crazy. Wouldn’t surprise me if Infinite sucked away some of their audience but that’s still their own fault.
DICE has a lot of issues, BF2042 is the result of that. Almost everyone I knew there has left in the BF V - 2042 period.
